"""Anyone with any numismatic ambitions or resolutions this year? I would like to:
1. Sit back and enjoy what I already have.
2. Add at least one nice mommy medal, greyhound medal/coin and find at least one worthy upgrade or addition for my Japanese Dansco.
3. Get more organized (I did a little better in 2008, at least most everything is in it's proper cabinet, album or at least in some sort of Intercept storage.
4. Actually SELL or giveaway all the extras lying around!!
5. Figure out what to do with everything in case (getting likely) we get stationed overseas again this year...""""
Let's hear some more

2. Don't buy coins that I really don't want.
3. Finish my date (1897-1937) set of GB 1/2d in Unc.
I know #2 will probably be broken by next week.

Seriously, I just hope to add afew solid coins in my core collecting areas
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
1) Add an _early date - MS63 - Mexico 50 Peso to complete my Gold type set
2) Add a - AU - 1866 Hong Kong half $ to complete my Hong Kong Dansco type set
Then I want to start on a - 63'ish - 12 pc. US Gold type set.
1- Complete my 1/3 farthing set in MS grades. Look for upgrades and perhaps a proof.
2- Start the 1/4 farthing set.
3- Buy more world gold coins.
4- Same as what JCM said "Stop buying random stuff just because it's pretty. "
No 4 is going to be hard though.
That's funny, because that's exactly what I'm collecting now.
My World Coin Type Set
Let's see....
1. I'd like to build mainly on my current sets, which include hammered coins, a set of World's Fair elongates, and a U.S. coin box of twenty.
2. Focus, there are lots of cool things out there, but I guess that I don't need to own them all.
3. Remember what I have lost money on. I often sell extras or impulse buys, and need to consider resale BEFORE I purchase an impulse item.
Ok, I have it written down now, and have a reference point if I seem to stray from this or feel I'm losing focus. I guess it could be a maturity issue. As I progress as a collector, I find more focus and direction. 2009 will be my third year of collecting, and with the continued great advice and help I've received here from many, I'm sure it'll be another good year.
2. I may need to sell some stuff to finance #1. Have already started by selling some of my medals to a well-known exonumia dealer (we both made money on that deal
3. Work on my coin photography ability. Either that or see what my daughter-in-law can do with her camera and coins. This will hopefully fill much the time currently spent on eBay so that I can keep true to goal #1.
Collecting:
Conder tokens
19th & 20th Century coins from Great Britain and the Realm
<< <i>Stop buying random stuff just because it's pretty.

Too funny, I sure can relate.
I'm going to make this my goal as well - then promote it to a new-years resolution!
...
If so, I'd like to finally get my full-fledged web site up and open for the public this year after two years of development.
I really need to carve out some time to do some writing. I have a boat-load of new info about Goetz and his works that needs to be brought out and attributed to him.
The web site remains the priority though as the availability of it and it's associated information could be important to researchers.

- Continue to organize and creatively store my collection
- Complete a detailed inventory process (within each flip and a in combined database)
- Reholder poorly holdered pieces (after an acetone cleansing, if appropriate)
- To tilt the acquisition quality vs. quantity debate somewhat more toward the former
Other useful things (getting more and better references, becoming adept at photography and photo management, becoming a more active seller, getting my feet wet at major auctions) are lower priority but still on the radar.
Of course, the number one goal is to continue to enjoy the hobby! This board is a most useful tool in doing that.
All the Panda Silver coins.
Approx 75 coins. I have about 10 to go.
Edited to add: There are more than I thought. A little more than a 100
I may do this in drips-and-drabs or all at once. Maybe I will instead buy a pound a month. Who knows??
Add some ancient/medieval. I have 1 ancient Rome coin that I got from LordM, and then my collection skips to 1797, also a BST purchase.
I will enjoy whatever I get, though!!
Like others mentioned - not buy random stuff.
I'd like to plan each purchase, and make sure those I do add to my collection are key to my focus.

2. organize some more
3. organize even more
I was lazy last year.
2. Doing the above will allow additional purchases to fill some holes in my collection.
3. Add 44 coins in VF or better to my date/mint German Empire coin collection to get it over 80% complete. Currently at .7639% complete (906 coins). I still need a lot of the less expensive stuff, I just haven't come across them (yet). See number 1 above if you can help me out. I may have some deals for you!

<< <i>Stop buying random stuff just because it's pretty.

That is a difficult one for Darksiders. Most of my purchases at shows are just pretty coins without any connection to my specific collecting areas. I usually keep them for a while, then I eventually send them in for grading and imaging, directly or via Don,after which they are resold on ebay, at a slight profit or loss, it really doesn't matter. The professional images are a nice reminder of several such coins that I owned for a while.
1. Sit back and enjoy what I already have.
That's the best resolution I've heard so far.

2. Sell the remainder of my liteside stuff.
3. For the many ICCS Canadian coins that I crossed at PCGS, re-cross them back to ICCS (in other words have ICCS re-issue with certs tied to the PCGS holders).
4. Write some articles for the Canadian Numismatic Journal on my WWII collection.

2. Submit another 8 coins for PCGS certification upon renewal of platinum membership.
3. Submit at least 5 additional coins for PCGS certification.
4. Complete my AU/UNC Raw set of US-PI Centavos (and Half Centavos), except for the varieties and the difficult 1915-S, which I will be happy to acquire raw in VF to XF, and the 1918-S (Large S), which I will be happy to obtain in VG to Fine.
5. Cross most, if not all, of my ANACS (and possibly some NGC) certifed coins.
6. Acquire (by hook or by crook) a 1918-S Mule Five Centavos in VG to Fine condition. (If it is by crook, then MS60 or better.)
7. Continue to upgrade my raw US-PI Silver Coinage collection.
8. Avoid another bankruptcy.
9. Always bear in mind that God and Family always take priority.
Find that elusive Meiji 6 (1874) 2 sen to complete the date set!
The rest of the set is XF or better, but I'd even take a G at this point.
Continue to periodaclly spend undisclosed amounts of money on random darkside coins that look pretty and would fit into the general scheme of things ... with the most painful part still ahead ... smoe German Empire and Weimar Republic commems
Wrap up the last of my QE II decimal showcase sets and post it if/when I get the urge to restart it to begin with.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy summer ... when it arrives ...
