1993 Donruss Elite Dominator question

So I don't really collect modern cards, just some Nolan Ryan and Roy Oswalt cards. My dad gives me this Ryan card for Christmas, and I don't know anything about it. Hope you guys can shed some light on it for me.

1) Is that a real autograph, and were they all autographed?

It looks real (not printed by Donruss), but it's numbered 0656/5000. I wouldn't think Ryan signed 5000 of these. It if was SN to 50, sure, but not 5000.

2) What's with the case? Did they come from Donruss in these super thick "Elite Dominator" screw down cases? If so, how were they purchased. Obviously not found in wax packs.

    I'm thinking they were sold by Donruss through the Shop at Home Network or something...but I can't remember the details. The Ryan sig is legit.

    Donruss Elite Dominators
    In a series of programs broadcast Dec. 8-13, 1993, on the Shop at Home cable network, viewers were offered the opportunity to purchase a factory-sealed box of either 1993 Donruss I or II, which included one Elite Dominator card produced especially for the promotion. The set retailed for 99.00 plus 6.00 for postage and handling. 5,000 serial-numbered sets were produced and half of the cards for Nolan Ryan, Juan Gonzalez, Paul Molitor, and Don Mattingly were signed by the player. The entire print run of 100,000 cards were reportedly purchased by the Shop at Home network and were to be offered periodically over the network. The production number, out of a total of 5,000 produced, is shown at the bottom.

    It is a legit Ryan auto. 5000 cards were produced for each player with the first 2,500 being autographed. That is the original holder it was sold in by shop at home network.

    Nope, probably get a 7, maybe an 8. Corners and edges aren't perfect.
