Some Cards For PSA - Your Opinions Appreciated

Hey Guys,

Was going thru some of what I have left from my collection, of which there is a lot of raw cards. Although I probably had in excess of 2,000 PSA graded cards, I only submitted, thru a friend, about 20 cards several years ago. I'm going to join PSA and submit about 100 cards next month.

Following are a few cards that I think I'm going to send in. I just bought an Epson Perfection V300 Scanner. It seems like a real nice scanner, but I'm still learning how to use it. Some of the edges on the following cards look a little uneven, sort of like an OPC cut. HOWEVER, all of the edges are real nice ... none of them are cut bad. In addition, none of the cards have any creases.

What do you think they will grade?I think the '71 Britton, '64 Bailey and T206 Pelty are the nicest.

Doug the 64's are smokin hot. Backs look great as well as the front. I collected this set for a little over two years in PSA 7 and 8. Very nice and may be worth grading........

    Thanks Blackie,

I probably have another 50 or so from that 64 purchase from quite a few years ago. Think I'll have to go thru them a little closer.

The Winfield looks like a beauty to me (possibly a PSA 9).

As for the two 1964 cards and the 1971 Britton, if submitting them for resale, I would only submit them if you thought the would grade higher than PSA 8. Those 3 cards in PSA 8 sell for about $10 to $15, and after PSA fees, eBay fees, and paypal fees, you'll make $1.18
  • Good Morning,

    1. Bailey...Seems to be some sort of paper ding right of third base in the white. If so, no idea, if not 8.5
    2. Worthington 8.5/9
    3. Britton.....Are the edges and corners really that sharp or did you crop a little close with the scanner? ???? Can't Guess.
    4. Who Am I? Babe Ruth NM-MT 8...Can you say Kaching Kaching !!!!!!
    5. Winfield 8.5/9
    6. Pelty NM 7 MC

Actually Collect Non Sport, but am just so full of myself I post all over the place !!!!!!!
  • that 71 is cropped with the scanner, really impossible to judge.

Thanks for all the opinions. Yes, the Britton IS that sharp ALL AROUND! The best RAW '71 that I have ever owned. Sorry I could not get a better scan ... I'm still learning how to use this new scanner. The white on the edges of the Britton are from the paper that was underneath the card.

The right side of the Bailey is just dust from the scanner. The edges are sharp all the way around.

Nicely centered 71 Britton, and hopefully the mark/stain on the reverse doesn't kill the overall grade. As I mentioned, a PSA 8 will only sell for about $10 to $15. If it is a PSA 8.5 or above you should do very well.

That's a nice Pelty, but PSA is really tough on the T206's. I've sent quite a few raw 206's in and it is really tough to pull anything over a 6. Good luck though, it's a nice looking card.

    Good luck!

The cards look really nice with the exception of the Ruth card. It appears someone scribbled all over it.

LMM ... I agree and I plan to take care of that. Before I send it into PSA I'll take a dime out of my pocket and try to erase all that garbage off the front of that Ruth Card. I'll let you know if it works! LMAO!

BTW ... great job with the Secret Santa ... wish I was active on the Boards when you started it. Put me down for next year. What was the amount that people were supposed to spend?????

Gifts should be at least $25.00 (chump change). However, most guys far exceed that minimum.

Just look for the thread next Oct. 1st image

Based upon what people received I would have thought that the MINIMUM was $100.00 or more. Some of the SECRET SANTAS were nicer than the REAL Santa Claus! LOL

Here is one of the raw T206's I sent it. This was before they had .5's

  • Sure are nice cards, all of them. I'd like to see what grade that T206 Pelty gets. I've seen some like that with the ol (MC) as Niel stated. I have one in my 1910 Hockey set that doesn't bother me at all.
