eBay account suspension

I am having some problems with eBay and was wondering what I should do. A month or two ago I won several auctions ranging from $1-$5 Totaling $60 for some old comic books. I sent the seller a personal check and I forgot about it. As of today my eBay account has been suspended because the seller has given me 8 nonpayer strikes. I tried contacting the seller and he knows nothing of a check. He said that he relisted the items and I am S.O.L. What actions should I take to get my eBay account reinstated?

Well since you are a Bears fan you are screwedimage. Do you have a copy of the canceled check? If so you can send that to Ebay for reinstatement. Otherwise create another account.

I checked with the bank and the check was never cashed. I really don't want to set up a new account. I have been a member since 1998 and have over 200 feedbacks. How long will my account be suspended for?

If this is your first NPB strike, call eBay and they should be willing to remove them for you. Getting 8 strikes over one bulk purchase is a bit excessive.

Buyers always win on eBay, so just call. You'll likely be unsuspended before you hang up the phone.

I'd pay the seller ASAP via PayPal and inform eBay that its been paid

I can't even make a payment becuase when I try and pay for the item i get the "account suspension" message. I have other auctions from other sellers that I can't even pay for because of this.

Wait wait.. Dont pay for anything if you are not going to get the comics. I would cancel the check through your bank and explain to ebay the check must have got lost in the mail.

Wow, I just got off the phone with the rudest s.o.b I have ever dealt with at eBay. This guy was a major jerk. I then asked to speak with his manager and he told me that she wasn't going to do anything for me. She then got on the phone and was one of the more intelligent people over at eBay and understood my situation. She then removed all the item strikes besides the 1 and told me that I would have to resolve that one with the seller. I told her that was fine as long as my account wasn't suspended I was fine with the one. Now I need to go cancel the check before the seller try’s any funny business.

Another in the never ending list of non intelligent, non helpful responses
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

Not everyone is a power seller on ebay.

Try adding something positive when posting.

to OP >The suspension may negate any bids and sales you have pending. I hope it gets straightened out.

  • My comment was meant to say that if you needed to restart an account, losing an account with a 200 rating wouldn't be that big of a deal. Obviously this is someone that uses ebay infrequently. That has nothing to do with being a power-seller. That is an average of 20 ebay transactions a year. I would just as soon let the account lapse and just start over and be done with it. But if you want to take that as a non-intelligent non-helpful response, then so be it.

  • Nothing wrong at all. But he is obviously not a seller, and with the current ebay "no negatives for buyers" concept, then what is the difference. If you are a casual ebay user and you aren't selling, then what is the difference as to whether your feedback is 15 or 1500? As a seller are you going to turn away a payment from either one of them? Doubtful.

Ya, I am not a seller. I would guess that 90%+ of my feedbacks are from purchasing. I would not consider myself a casual eBay user either. I use/check eBay almost every day and take pride in my 200 feedbacks. They’re probably are not that many people on this board that have had the same eBay account for over 10 years either.
I am not a deadbeat bidder that doesn’t pay for their auctions and just starts up a new account. I am sure that there are sellers on this board that get over 200 feedbacks per week but that is not the point. You can also go through life racking up credit cards and filing for bankruptsy too. That is just not how I choose to live my life.
  • At least you got it taken care of.

that is really all I cared about. I was unable to even pay other buyers that auctions I had won the day before. I don't understand why the don't allow you to pay for your items you already won.. Becasue now they can start adding strikes even though you have every intention to pay.

I do find it a bit odd that you "forgot" about these auctions (you said you won several from this seller). Did he/she not send you unpaid reminders before it even got to the point of a possible suspension? Did you notice when you balanced your checkbook you had a check out there that hadn't been presented for payment? I'm glad you got it squared away but if you are going to use eBay, you have to stay on top of it (casual user or not).

Just a regular ol deadbeat bidder that keeps the same account, huh.
