***2008 Cards as Gifts Thread***

So, I started a thread like this last year for folks to post scans of cards received from Santa. No cards from the secret santa excahnge allowed, those have their own thread.

My wife told me "absolutely no cards this year, ain't gonna happen, no way, don't even think about it, etc.". So, naturally, I went out and bought myself a present. Will upgrade someday but for now, it's beautiful.

  • Don't have scans, but I won 8 different 1983 Donruss PSA 10's for my set last night. One of them was the Nolan Ryan I always seem to get outbid on.

  • That '53 Reese would be great to find under the tree. Very nice.

  • When you decide to upgrade that Reese let me know. That card is on my wish list and that one is a beauty!

I did get a 1956 Topps Mantle psa 4, do not have a scan yet. Found it while looking for something else. My wife does not know yet.image
  • I received X-Mas money that I spent mostly on eBay this weekend. I got 5 1985 Topps USFL PSA 10's, 1987 Donruss Barry Bonds PSA 10, the Danny Wuerffel and the Chris Weinke PSA 10 for my heisman rc set, a 2008 Press Pass Steve Young Auto, a lot of Tony Gonzalez GU cards, a few of the 2000 Donruss BGS Graded cards I was missing and a George Kell index card PSA DNA.
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

    Bill -

Can't leave a post like that with no e-bay scan of the Ryan.

Mickey - slippery road my man, good luck. Funny - that's the card my wife bought me last year (after 2 years of begging) that started the 2007 thread.

    Anyone else?

    Cheers,

    Bob

Wow, I didn't know they were so forgiving on T/B centering on the Ryans...every one I've ever pulled looks identical to that.

  • I was to purchase a 1968 Nolan Ryan PSA 8, but it looks like my seller has backed out, so it looks like I am S.O.L for Christmas. Although there is this 1975 Robin Yount PSA 9 RC ending in about 1:15 minutes that screaming to be added to my HOF'ers set.

I bought the holder. The heck with the card. Merry Christmas Bob and thanks for the great packs this year.
  • Very nice card Bob, I've never gotten a card for Christmas unless I've purchased it for myself.
