Some time back there was a Card Grading Company down the road from me which I believe was named Card Collectores Services.I wasnt very Much into graded cards at the time until I started learning more on PSA.Before that time I went to this company and the Gibson was graded 7.5 .I later decided to send it to PSA however my mistake was that I sent it in as a cross over instead of cracking it.Does anyone think this would have a chance for at least a 7 If I sent this card in raw?I would like some opinions before cracking it.

  • Good day,
I think it is a little over on the Left/Right OC and when you add the slight Diamond Cut, I don't think there is anyway it would come back as a NM 7. Maybe an outside shot at a 6.5, but don't think the slight chance is worth it. I think it is at home where it belongs.

I have a 1975 Topps Mini George Brett with almost the same features as yours and it is in a "6" holder. I think the centering would keep it from being a 7 and unless you want it for the set registry, I dont think that it would sell for much more than a centered 6 would even if it wound up in a 7 holder.

    Hi Tony,

When you crossed it over to PSA, did you by any chance ask for No Qualifiers on your sub?

My reason for asking is, that if the corners are as sharp as they appear in the pics, maybe it was an 8OC, but was granted a 6 based on your request for NQ.

If not, I doubt very seriously if this card would grade a 7 without an Off-Center (OC) qualifier, even if you cracked it out and resubbed it raw.

    JMHO,

It's a close call - you might get lucky with a 7 but it would be a longshot in my opinion.

Tony ... I agree with Poppa. It looks like it could get an "8", but definitely an O/C as well. I believe it should stay in the current holder. Save the money it would cost to re-submit.

  • you should have cracked it.Its a mental game they play making you think they have higher standards than others.ive seen worse in a 7 holder for sure. When i used to buy graded cards i would buy csa etc and crack them and cross them over pretty consistently.

I have some 8(OC) cards with the same centering as your Gibson. I agree that you are looking at either a 6 or an 8(OC).
