TTM update: He kept my card but return an empty envelope

I was excited to receive one of my earlier TTM back today, right away I noticed that the envelope is empty, nothing but spaces! I am not sure I understand this, so the guy decided to keep my card but have the courtesy to return me an empty envelope?!!! kind of a twisted humor or sarcasm ..

Since I didn't want to expose the athlete's address on the returned envelope (for their privacy) I did not put his address on the SASE, which is unfortunate 'cause now I can't even tell who did this. Has this ever happened to any of you ?

  • Who was it?
  • I can't tell because all of my SASE (self-addressed and stamped address) do not have their return address. And I have sent out a bunch out ...I guess I can tell by process of elimination when I start getting back all the rest.

Youve got to figure out who pulled that stunt!

Nope it's not Mr Johnny Bench.

I am a slightly upset over this, I can't imagine someone upon receiving a nice letter from a fan would do something like that ...

    That's terrible.

Something like this really make feel disgusted with some of these "star" athletes ...

what kind of envelope do you use?

if it's the adhesive type they CAN be opened and resealed and you'd never know it.

    I'm just sayin....

I have to agree that Emmit is/was a real jerk in person. I used to set up at the shows at the Super Bowl and was just down the aisle from his parents 2 years straight, our contracts stated no stars allowed at any booth during the show, and Emmit always showed up at his parents table. Didn't want to play by the rules.image

Man, Sorry that happened to you. Does not say much for this person!

I agree with Ahmanfan that it could be an accident. The athlete might have had a mountain of mail, and got a call during the middle of it, or some other normal function of life or something, to where they inadvertently got items mixed up, or sealed one by accident thinking they already stuffed it, or something. I've seen several occasions over on sportscollectors.net where they send the wrong item back to the wrong person.

Austin, in the future if you don't want to put their return address, put yours as the return as well, but use their initials for the sender, that way you'll know who they are from and if for some reason the envelope gets returned to the sender, it will get returned to you.

There are a couple of NFL players that "conveniently" fail to seal their envelopes. Sometimes you get the contents, sometimes you don't...

Since I mostly collect autographs on blank 3x5's, I write the athletes initials very small on the back side of my SASE just in case I can't read their handwriting. Does the postmark offer any clues?

  • A lot of guys dont lick/seal the envelopes for fear of poison etc. Nate Archibald is notorious for this. I received a couple of empty envelopes back from him which the cards must have fallen out during mailing before finally obtaining his signature.

  • send the envelope out for dna testing
  • I was actually just joking about Emmit. I did get to meet him once and he was as polite as he could be.
  • Emmitt was about to kick Steve Young's ass last night on Monday Night Countdown. Anyone else see that?

    Bill was joking about Emmitt..lol

I have never met him but from what I hear from people, he is a nice dude.

Of course people have opinions of others based on their own circumstances.

You can't and shouldn't judge someone by what you hear.

By the way Lloyd, you spelled Emmitt, Emmit. This is your first warning lol
