A tear to my eye..............

For those of you that have children you will appreciate this............................

My five year old little girl, who is the apple of my eye started Kindergarten this year. Everyday, if she has been good, she gets a star in her notebook, and when they get five stars they get to pick from a prize box.
well today was the fifth star for my girl and what do you think she picked from the box ?? The Hanna Montana pencil ? Nope ! The Jonas brothers notepad ? Nope !

Of all the things my sweet little girl could have pulled from the prize box she pulled her daddy two cards.

These two vg-ex cards just became my most valuable and prized possessions ! Thank you Emma for thinking of your daddy.

Wow, how ironic, my 17 year old son (the youngest of my two kids) came home today and presented me with two traffic summons. Looks like the auto insurance is going up again! I'd have rather had the cards! Congrats Barry. That is a precious moment and if you're wise, you'll use it when you give her away at her wedding.

Why should that bother you if he's paying for it himself?

Thats awesome. I hear people complain about kids and they seem to forget the wonderful moments like this.
  • Kids are great. My son just filled his shorts.

Those are the coolest cards I've ever seen.
Collector of 1976 Topps baseball for some stupid reason.
Collector of Pittsburgh Pirates cards for a slightly less stupid reason.

It took her until December to get 5 stars? Sounds like you have a real troublemaker on your hands there Barry.

    Obviously just kidding. Great story.

What a great story! See, it's stories like these that PSA should read and let us put a custom note on the PSA flip. Like my very first baseball card, I would NEVER sell it. In terms of monitary value it's a tough call between my first card ever, or my Ruth that I got when I finished graduate school.

    Awesome story!!!

    That's a great story man!

I kept the first baseball card my little nephew ever touched. He grabbed one of my baseball cards off of my desk, it was an '04 Omar Vizquel UD MVP. It's on my display shelf in a top loader. Only my Brother and I know what that card means to us. Good times. image

    That is a wonderful story.

I have a 5 year girl myself that started kindergarten this year. On Monday of this week, she got to bring Daddy home a Christmas gift. They wrapped in class their self. She brought me home a bottle of Brut cologne. As you probably know, that is far from a designer brand, but I love it. Everyday since then, after getting a shower after work, I put that cologne on let her smell it. She smiles so big when I do it. I will never forget it. I told her that I was never going to throw away that bottle, even after it's empty.

My 8 year old son has done similar things like make my something in art class. I have some things hanging up in my office now that he made.

For the ones that have kids that are also into cards, feel lucky. My kid is now 20
and grew up with me collecting cards, but never got into it. He just came back
from 2 years in the service, and is the typical kid, music and video games. Still
proud of him though for serving his country.

I'd say the fact that there are even sports cards in that prize box at all and that kids even know about sports cards is a good sign. I hope you got your little girl something extra special this year, yes even if it's the latest pop culture fad.
