Crossovers PSA grading questions?

Hi guys,
I Have a nolan ryan that was graded 8.5 by beckett
I want to send it in to PSA and have them cross it
However IF i can't get a PSA grade 8.5 or higher
i want to keep it in the case still graded 8.5 by beckett
If it can't crossover to the number i ask how will i recieve
the card back? It will come back as a Beckett 8.5 still right?

    Just write in "8.5" in the Minimum Grade column and PSA will send it back to you in the Beckett holder if they can't meet or exceed that grade.

    So, if PSA feels the card is an 8.5 or 9, they crack the card out themselves? If so, has anyone ever had a card damaged before with PSA cracking out?

    I doubt very much they will cross it, they can't see the edges so IMO save your money or ask for
    a lower min grade. Just because you ask for a lower grade does not mean you will get it.

    If it was me I'd crack it and sub it raw that way I get a true opinion of the card.

    It is afterall what you are looking for right?

    As for damaging while they crack it out never happened to me but I'm sure it happens.

    Which Nolan Ryan card is it?

    Have you ever cracked out a card yourself?

    Why are you wanting to do the crossover?

    Cause vintage cards sell higher graded PSA than beckett
    and i want to see if i could get an equal or higher grade.

    Under the circumstances that you mention I would keep the card in the same holder because either you could be disappointed in the grade or out grading fees.
