Favorite card pickups for 2008

What are your favorite card pickups for this year?

I didn't buy much this year, but I really like my 1988(!) Topps Joe Montana PSA 10 card I bought on Ebay. I have a real soft spot for 88 Topps FB!

What about the rest of you?

Yeah, couldn't bring myself to pay what they go for...but I finally came around...

I don't collect very much baseball anymore ... but the three cards I have kept:

1. T205 - Cobb
2. 1928 Harrington's - Ruth
3. 1956 topps - Mantle

other than that:

1. 1964 Barratts - George Best - rookie
2. 2000 Upper Deck - Carlos Valderrama - Sign of the Times (auto)
3. 1958 A&BC - Bobby Charlton - rookie (with tab)

There were several T218 pickups I made this year that I was particularly stoked about, but my favorite purchase is probably this '57 Drysdale...

I finally found a 1933 Goudey Benny Bengough PSA 5 and got it. Definitely my favorite pickup of '08.

The 1995 Score PLATINUM complete set I picked up last August.

You can read about it here. Let me tell you folks, getting that set was pure luck, plain and simple. If you guys want, I'll go ahead and see if I can scan some of the big cards from that set (which I should've done in the first place but never thought I could do the cards justice).

I'm also pleased with the 25-30 or so 1971 Topps PSA 7's that I've collected so far this year to start that set. I hope to have 1971-79 sets completed with PSA 7 key cards (and for 1971-72, that includes ALL non-subset HOFers and checklists as well as card #1) before this decade is out.
