What is the deal with these Christmas/Holliday rack packs

Are these rack packs man made in someone’s basement? Or are they legit packs made by the manufacturer. The look a little fishy in my opinion. Does anyone know the origins of these racks?

Thanks

  • Someone posted an interview with Steve Hart on here the last time these were discussed. One of the questions Steve was asked, was in regards to these packs. I believe his answer was the same as what most people suspect. The "legitimate" packs were aftermarket items made in the mid to late 60's or early 70's using 1950's Topps cards and were not produced by Topps. The cards used were basically leftovers. However, the large majority of the ones you see on eBay were made by crooks at home using cards that are at best in EX condition.

Those "CHRISTMAS RAKS" are items to stay far away from. If I remeber correctly, they probably sell today for ~15%-20% of what they originally sold for when a certain individual (a big name in the unopened pack business in the 80s/90s) sold many of them back in the day.
