Wow, did they kiss you first?

I would love to know the story behind the crackouts and then come back trimmed/quest. auth.? Means they either slabbed trimmed cards the first time or have an inexperienced grader this time.

    Robert:

When you get the Brown Post back, look at the back for spider creases in the cardboard. You may need to turn the card sideways or angle it a bit, but if the card looks that sweet and gets a PSA 5 or PSA 6, it's typically the spider creases. They run heavy in the '61 baseball and '62 football. I'm guessing it may have been that the cardboard for the boxes was near the end of the roll and caused the creases on the reverse.

scott.. thanks for the advice..... I sub these cards all the time..
and that was the first thing I looked for...
and it was clean.. it looked like if anything.. it had a little ding on the surface..
but was almost invisible unless searching for it.. I figured 6 was a little harsh..
    7-8 seemed more in line..
maybe I was mistaken.. I will scan it when it is in hand

I see you still trying to get those Witts in an 8 holder.

    Maybe next time?

Yeah they have been ruff as of late, I had some smoking 54 bowmans come back
    all over the place.

    Good for you.

yep.. it is worth a shot.. I think a couple I have if they weren't named george witt.. would be easy 8's
  • next time the Witt's come back recolored and then min size. $80 later they may end up in a 7 holder

I sent in some 69 Basketball on a special and just got them back. The results were all over the place. I'm making the mistake of looking at 10 different 8's and comparing my raw cards and sending them in. The problem with that is the standards have completely changed on a number of issues. You have to look at the raw cards and be 100% confident that they are NM-MT to send them in. The 8's of yesterday can not be used for comparison. This is not a threat- if they keep doing this stuff I will go to SGC for my grading. I am different than alot of people with the collection I have in that I am a collector first so I do not have to have PSA grade all my cards. I send about half of my cards to SGC already. SGC's customer service is way better and the grading with all of the issues is the same as PSA. They make alot of mistakes too. Nice looking holder except it's large.

    Bob,

Nice work on the '62 blue lines Clemente -- that should help cushion the blow.

    Oakesy,

Line 7: was this card by an chance this one?

I'd be filing a SNAD with PayPal if it was.

I saw this card and had a feeling it was bogus .... I didn't like the way it looked; has a dull look compared to the ones I have.

In fact, there have been a lot of questionable raw Bazookas and Jell-Os going around lately. The card stock is just a tad thicker and the white borders are dull.

I'm not saying it's not authentic ... in fact, after seeing the sad results of some of your other cards, it might very well be authentic.

You might be right about the ding on your Brown card. I had a Mantle come back a 6 that I thought for sure was a 9. My son cracked it out, sent it back, and it came back an 8.
