What cards am I thankful for? None.

I'm thankful for my son who was born premature and is as healthy as can be and my wife that loves me no matter what stupid thing I do.

I am thankful towards cards in that they have brought me to know others that share the same passion and enjoyment as myself.

  • My most thankful piece....

I have an Ozzie Smith auto ball that was inscribed "To Jesse Jackson the next president of the United States. Keep hope alive".
    White Whales:
1996 Select Certified Mirror Gold Ozzie Smith
2006 Bowman Chrome Orange Refractor Chris Carpenter

All the cards I have sold over the last couple of months so I could by a Ipod Touch. I have to say that I like music as much or more than collecting cards.

i am thankful for a 54 jackie robinson card i got from my aunt, the only card to survive my father and his brother and sister's childhood. i had it graded for protection, it came back a 5, and i'm really thankful for that card.

I'm thankful for my '53 Topps Roy Campanella. It was a Christmas gift from my dad 10+ years ago and is my first vintage card (I subbed it earlier this year and it pulled a 4). It has since led me to start collecting Brooklyn Dodger cards and a Campy player set.

I am thankful for having the financial means (in this poor economy) to be able to support my family and still be able to collect.

I am thankful for having a wife that supports my collecting, and doesn't flip out when I tell her what I spend.

I am thankful that we have this forum to share our passion...because there is no one in my "real world" that does.

and I am most thankful for this card:

I'd like to say the same thing. I'm not greatful for any possessions, but I'm very thankful for our new baby girl and that my family is all in great health. I pray everyone has a blessed holiday.

Well ... as I have said recently in a couple of other threads ... my little girl was diagnosed with Cancer (over 900 consecutive days of Chemo) in January 2003 at age 3 and in December 2007 my wife was diagnosed with Cancer.

Right now my little girl, who is now 9, is Cancer free for 3.5 years and my wife is Cancer free for 6 months.

Still having my girls with me is what I am thankful for.

    Doug

PS That being said, when I was 10 years old in 1968 I went to a Yankee game with family and friends. My friends grandfather knew many ballplayers, so he asked me if I wanted a ball signed by the Yankees. OF COURSE I SAID YES! In between innings he went and knocked on top of the dugout and spoke to Mel Stottlemyer (sp?). Ten minutes later he came back with a ball signed by the Yankee team. YUP, THE MICK is front and center, along with about 25 other sigs. Although it is not the most valuable item in my collection, THAT is something I will NEVER sell.
    STAY HEALTHY!

    Doug

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

I wish Ripken collector's kids had bats like Billy Ripken.
Collector of 1976 Topps baseball for some stupid reason.
Collector of Pittsburgh Pirates cards for a slightly less stupid reason.
