84 Topps Rack Box

So, my local dealer sold me an 1984 Topps Baseball Rack Box.... for $20.

I bought one from him about 3 weeks ago. He said it came from a sealed case, and I trust him on stuff like this.

I still didn't have this set, so I figured the 1300 cards would get me the set.

Needless to say, it didn't. I was still about 75 cards short. I'm pretty sure it wasn't sequenced or searched, as it had racks with Gwynn, Ryan and Henderson showing (and maybe Ripken.) Although I was sweating it, because there was only one Mattingly, and it was in the last pack.

Anyway, I told him the other years I was looking for, and he brought me those, and another 84 box!

Should I open this second one, or leave it sealed?

    If it came from the same case, I would bust it hoping the "extra" Mattingly's were in there. For $20 I would buy and bust as many as I could.

    If you decide not to bust the box and need some mint hole fillers for the set, PM me a list.

    I'm a lifelong LSUer, but went to MSU out of high school (before moving back and finishing at LSU.)

    You could have just spent $20 on a nice raw Mattingly and not have had to deal with 1300 worthless cards stacked up in your house.
