Just wondering what the thoughts were. I could be way off but here is my shot at it. I know there are the rarities like the '62 F. Robinson and such but...
1- '62 Mantle
2- '63 Pete Rose
3- '63 Mantle
4- '68 Nolan Ryan
5- '60 Mantle
6- '62 Willie Mays
7- '66 Willie Mays
8- '62 Clemente
9- '62 Koufax
10- '67 Seaver

What about the RC of the guy in your avatar (although I like his 1969 card better)??

Current obsession, all things Topps 1969 - 1972

  • I like his '69 card MUCH better. He's very under rated in my book and it stinks that '68 had to be his rookie year. Had it been '67, I think we'd be looking at a much popular RC of the best catcher of all time in my book.

My list (without a heckuva lot of thought going into it) of '60s popular mainstream Topps issues would be:

    1 - 1963 Topps Pete Rose
    2 - 1968 Topps Nolan Ryan
    3 - 1965 Topps Mickey Mantle
    4 - 1961 Topps Mickey Mantle All-Star
    5 - 1967 Topps Tom Seaver
    6 - 1969 Topps Reggie Jackson
    7 - 1967 Topps Rod Carew
    8 - 1963 Topps Roberto Clemente
    9 - 1960 Topps Carl Yastrzemski
    10 - 1966 Topps Willie Mays

Honorable mention: 1969 Topps Johnny Bench, 1962 Topps Roger Maris, 1967 Topps Mickey Mantle, 1965 Topps Sandy Koufax

    1-1960 Topps Mantle
    2-1961 Topps Mantle
    3-1963 Topps Mantle
    4-1960 Topps Yastrzemski
    5-1965 Topps Mantle
    6-1968 Topps Ryan
    7-1967 Topps Seaver
    8-1960 Topps Clemente
    9-1961 Topps Mantle All Star
10-1961 Topps Yastrzemski tie 1961 Topps Koufax

I have an affinity for '60 and '61 Topps because I've built those sets and had hundreds of the cards graded. I'm also partial to anything Mickey.

Hmmmm ... Great Question. Being a big MICK fan, I would have to say, in no particular order:

    1967 Mantle
    1960 Mantle
    1967 Seaver
    1968 Ryan
    1967 Carew
    1962 Maris
    1969 Reggie
    1960 Yaz
    1963 Rose
1968 Any of the 3-Ds stars

I think there is a difference between popular and rare/expensive. The 3d cards are rare and expensive but so few exist that most collectors will never get one let alone a Clemente. Enough of the White mantles exist that unless you only wanted a high grade example, most collectors could find one but I personally would rather have a PSA 8 65 than a PSA 6 69 WL.

I don't get the love for the 67 Mantle, it to me is the ugliest superstar card made in the 60's.

  • I am going most popular, not the rarest off the top of my head:

    1- 68 Johnny Bench
    2- 68 Nolan Ryan
    3- 63 Pete Rose
    4- 67 Rod Carew
    5- 69 Reggie Jackson
    6- 63 Willie Stargell
    7- 60 Mickey Mantle
    8- 65 Steve Carlton
    9- 60 Carl Yastrzemski
    10- 67 Tom Seaver
