Ebay Fixed Price Success

I went to the fixed price model on ebay and I have to say I've been pleasantly surprised. I've sold some high end items at decent prices. The one thing I like about this format is that I am more secure in listing my high end stuff ($200+) knowing that it won't sell for cheap.

I still use auctions for the lower end stuff. I'm still getting ok prices for it, people are still buying it looks like.

I'm sure the Microsoft discount is making buyers feel a bit better knowing that they'll get a 25% rebate on stuff. The more you spend, the more you get back. image

The 30-day BINs are working well. LOTS of the sales, though,
come on the first-day and the last five-days of the listings.

One of the nice things about the 35-cent fixed price listing for multiples is that you can keep adding inventory with no additional fees until the 30 days are up.

When you couple the above with a 40% PS "Double Discount" for FVFs, it's one of the best promos since free listings.

Even with Free Shipping, our October 2008 sales have more than doubled our 2007 October sales, and this month is booming at the same rate so far.

It will surely be interesting to find out what plans eBay has for January 1, 2009, as far as promotions to keep sales afloat.

    Yup.

They may just extend the 30 for 35 deal; it seems to be working for them.

They will be pushing PayPerClick and PayPerAction, sometime soon.

Sellers can now buy keywords on PPC. One-cent is the minimum bid.

PPA should follow. Sellers will bid on a FVF that they are willing
to pay; the higher the number, the more ads EBAY will put on its
own site AND on other sites. (The minimum bid on ProStores is
    now 8%.)

PPA is a great deal for folks who pay tiny prices for the carp they
sell. I can easily eat 25%+ in FVFs on most used clothing, if the
    volume is good.

I agree. That is why I decided to push most of my high end vintage and modern now. I'm looking to get out of selling, so I am reducing my inventory slowly.

I will probably still do auctions here and there for hot cards. I still have a ton of BGS 9.5/PSA 10 high end modern baseball rookies that I will list auction style next year.

  • I set 4 VCP highs on some semi-modern midrange PSA stuff last month just about the time the MSLive discount started.
