Can I get an "Authentic" grade on this?

Picked up cheap.. just liked the look (1955 Johnston Cookies)...will PSA give an auth. grade or nothing due to the trim job?

"In order for PSA to actually assign a grade to any card that possesses visible/defined borders on all four sides, evidence of that border must be present. If the cut exceeds the visible border for the card in question, PSA will encapsulate the card as "Authentic" only.

If the card is severely undersized and suffers in overall eye-appeal, the graders may deem the card not suitable for authentication or reject the card as minimum sized altogether."

Looks doubtful that they would even capsulate it.

Worth a try. I have a card I purpsosely colored in the backround in more than 5 or 6 spots. They slabbed it for me.

Of course I included a note in with the card telling them what I did and that I only wanted it authenticated.

They did it with no problems.
  • I actually called customer service today regarding trim cards that I have that I wanted a authentic grade. They told me that only if the card is truly a very valuable card that they would consider putting a authentic grade on a slab. Also if you wanted that grade must be on a separate invoice written on top of the invoice that you wanted authentic only paying extra shipping and insurance.

Just a short question so that I can learn something: Would this card sell for a better price graded Authentic than it would raw? If so, why? It seems to me like its authenticity is not in question.

Always looking for Mantle cards such as Stahl Meyer, 1954 Dan Dee, 1959 Bazooka, 1960 Post, 1952 Star Cal Decal, 1952 Tip Top Bread Labels, 1953-54 Briggs Meat, and other Topps, Bowman, and oddball Mantles.

Claude - if you're keeping it for yourself and just want it slabbed, SGC will do that and it will look nice in the black holder. I've read that PSA is more fussy about slabbing things "authentic" if they're altered.
