How's everyone holding up after day 1 of "Paperless Payments" on eBay?

I've had one buyer asking questions about it already (I changed new auction items format over a couple of weeks ago, just to be safe). I wonder what sellers like DSL and others that only took check and/or money orders are going to do now.

Listings that ask for paper-payments will not be poofed
    until mid-January.

BUT, the seller cannot send ANY other info to the buyer
that "might reinforce" the desire to use paper-payments.
After-sale invoices and emails can ONLY solicit PayPal payments.

ProPay is NOT available to sub-Silver PowerSellers until "sometime
in 2009." That makes the change a de facto "PayPal ONLY" scheme.
Lawsuits are being drafted, as I type this.

Listings that ask for Paper payments won't be removed yet, but the option itself was to be removed from the Payment Details section so that it's not a selectable option at checkout for new items.

I wonder who is more ticked off: the sellers who are getting hosed by this new system, or the third party vendors (vendio, etc.) that spent however much $ bulding a business plan and services that included auction payment processing.

I sell very little, but have always been PayPal only. I like splitting my wealth with the government, eBay, and eBayPal.

Looks like DSL bit the bullet and is now accepting Paypal:

    Before the change

    After the change

I wonder if it'll increase their shipping turnaround at all.

  • Good day,
Funny thing, I bit the bullet a couple of months ago, did all the changes over a 3-4 week period. Never had any real comment, old customers just started paying with Paypal (Most comments they were glad), new customers paid with Paypal, business as usual. Since Sunday have had no fewer than a dozen E-mails asking me about this, complaining they didn't know anything about it, don't understand, asking to keep paying with MO's or telling me they will never buy on E-bay again.
    Go Figure!!

i bought a card from sSs last night and had to use check or MO. no paypay option on their checkout system. did it matter when they listed the card or the end of the auction?

I think even though you have to 'only accept paypal' in your listings if the buyer wants to he/she can always pay with a check or MO

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • Steve,
I don't think that was the question, I had two auctions I won last night that I could only pay with MO or Check at checkout. I assumed that it just meant that if an auction was started before the cut off date of the 20th or 21st whatever it is, then that auction would be allowed to end with only those checkout options.
    Storm am I right?

I'm fine. I doubt my son will ever know what a check is.

Just to echo was schr1st said above, I'm glad DSL finally bit the bullet. Now I might be inclined to bid on some of their auctions.
