Retail versus Hobby: 2007 Football knowledge requested

As a player collector, I am having trouble finding out what the difference is between Retail and Hobby cards for the 2007 Ultra base set.

For instance, I have a David Garrard collection. I have bought cards off sites like Sportlots.com where this 2007 Ultra card is listed as "retail" and have also bought others of his card that do not list it as retail (so I assumed they are selling the "hobby" versions). I have bought 2 listed as retail and 2 not listed as retail, but when looking at all 4 cards, I can not find any clear difference.

Sometimes when shifting them in the light, the foil around his name looks more golden (as opposed to silver) on some of the cards--but it is so hard to distinguish--that I'm not sure if I am just convincing myself there is a difference when there really is not.

If Beckett checklists did not list a "retail" and "non-retail" card for him, I would assume there was no difference--but since the official checklist has each--there has to be something to differentiate the two different version--right?

I would be grateful if anyone could enlighten me about what makes one version different from the other. Since I have a good many of modern player collections, finding the answer would be great.

I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.

I have a lot of difficulty telling the difference myself but the foil on the hobby version has a kind of refractor "shine." It will very faintly show color in the foil when tilted where the retail version will remain silver no matter what angle you look at it.
