Halloween Yard Graveyard

I mentioned I might share photos of my yard dressed up for Halloween the other day and since I imagine two or three of you might find it of interest....here they are. Will buy some new stuff to add to it in a couple days or this weekend. Also included on bottom is photo showing my house. Not the best or biggest house in the world, but it is all mine and completely paid for, so it is what it is. I put the picket fence up when I bought the house and this is about the only use it gets.....well this, and every now and then the dogs like to chase each other around the windmill. No stalking me now.

If I was your mailman I would hate the fence and love the mailbox. Nice display image

Cool yard! I like it when people get into the holiday spirit. Do you expect a lot of kids that night?

And I like the house too, not too big, not too small. It's paid for and that counts for a lot. I wish I could say that.

Thanks for sharing the pics. And if a middle aged card collector shows up on your door step Halloween night, make sure you treat him good. image

  • I get a decent amount of kids, last year I bought 100 candy bars...then had to race to the store for another 50....and still ran out. It is a clean neighborhood but few of the other neighbors hand out stuff or I would get more (but I guess it is good I don't...I wouldn't give out full sized candy bars if I got much more).

And Jim, you would like me a lot less for the amount of mail I get...and I did apologize to the mailman for the fence when I put it up...he just laughed it off. He is pretty cool and I reward him with Gatorade all the time and a $20 tip at X-Mas (the max I am suppose to give). Overall the USPS is great, you guys do a wonderful job. Want to worry about the mail, send a $10,000 plus rock overseas and cross your fingers.

I have a family of wild rabbits that return every so often to the yard and live under the windmill, so I leave it high (usually) on purpose. Funny how they know how to come back where they were born. Plus Matt might try to do something dirty like leave a Dallas star.

Pretty cool Mark. We don't get many "trick or treaters" anymore. It seems to be a dying tradition around here. No pun intended image

    Jim

Don't hate me but my mailman would always walk through my freshly laid sod, through my newly planted hedge and go right to the neighbors house to save some steps. My box was on the front of the house so he had to come up all the way to my door.

Obviously I didn't want a trail through my yard and a hole through my hedge. So, one day I tied a big rope to a few stakes and used it to run the length of the hedge to act as a deterrent. It was about waist high. The guy stepped on it and kept right on going through.

I ended up putting a new "supersized" mail box and the end of the driveway, hidden behind a Cedar Tree.

We have different carriers all the time now but we all get along just fine image
