Auction For A 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan GMA 10 Reprint @ $177.50?!

Up for auction is a 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan GMA 10 REPRINT that, as I compose this post, is at $177.50. Am I missing something here?

One, it's graded by GMA (what company is that?!) and two, it's a reprint. Perhaps some or maybe all of the 18 bids are just B.S., uh I mean illegitimate bids. But assuming all the bids are legitimate and even if the auction price doesn't increase a penny more, that still $177.50 for a reprint card.

I, too, foresee a very nice 86 Jordan Rookie up for auction in the near future!
(and a Gretzky, Orr, Lemieux, and Roy!)

Didnt ebay start requiring certain cards to be "graded" only?

When did Good Morning America start grading cards?

  • I reported this item to ebay as being counterfeit. They quickly took it off along with suspending his account. i have noticed lately ebay has no tolerance for counterfeits. Took them less than an hour to suspend him after I told them about the fake cards.
  • Well, here is another over $200 with just over an hour left.

Maybe I am missing something here but are "reprint" cards (not sure in this case) officially published from the card manufacturer....

Why would it be violating Ebay TOS if the card is being sold as a "reprint"....not sure if I get it what rule is exactly being broken...

eBay considers encapsulated reprints as counterfeits.

There was an eBay seller "erniefigures" that used one-day auctions with cheap encapsulated counterfeits (reprints).

He would have his fake cards encapsulated by "fly by night" card graders, making it difficult to open the case to inspect the card.
If you could open the card, you would find out it's just basicly thick paper, not regular card stock paper!

Many collectors were looking for that elusive "buy of a lifetime" and lost some nice change in the process.

  • Hopefully it is just a matter of time before eBay bans all reprints unless they are authorized reprints graded by PSA, BGS or SGC.

I found an interesting auction for a STAR reprint Jordan card in a PSA holder.

    Is this legit?

This was a card printed by Topps and inserted into their 1996 packs. PSA will grade these cards.

So basically the card is really graded by PSA, but the seller is trying to mislead people with his auction title.

Ah got it - I didn't read the auction verbage close enough. I guess my desire to have PSA grade STAR cards blinded my abilities to read image.
