Terrible card....you should buy it and send it to me so I can remove it from the market.
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards. Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
Looks like it will grade out to about a 2 - but I am not an expert, I just play one on TV.
Collecting Interests: Ripken, Brooks & Frank Robinson, Old Orioles, Sweet Spot Autos, older Redskins - Riggins, Sonny, Baugh etc and anything that catches my eye.

Didn't buy it, just curious what you folks thought of the card. I think it looks good for the grade. BTW, I know I know it's not his "true" rookie card.

It looks like probably a low-end 2. Personally, I'd prefer one with better centering and without all the surface scuffing. I also don't really care for all the dirt and chipping on the right edge.
All that being said however, it's hard to go wrong with a '52 Topps Mantle, as long as you get it at the right price.

Price is all-important, but I like that card a lot, much better than many goods, with severe creasing across the face, etc. The color wear is a slight distraction but hardly as bad to my eye as color-breaking creases. Get it for a fair "good" price (whatever that is) and I think it's a winner.

I agree Just like low grade coins it's always going to be something. I do like the fact it doesn't appear to have severe creases across the face. Now, if I could find out what a ballpark price is that would help.

why is it that each and every time that somebody mentions a 1952 topps mantle as his rookie card that someone else has the incredible urge to correct him. i dont think there is anyone here who collects vintage bb cards who is not aware that 1951 bowman was the first mantle card produced. that isnt news. so whoever feels that incredible urge to correct the op, you are simply making yourself look bad. the 1952 topps mantle card holds such significance that many people consider it his rookie along with the 1951 bowman. personally, i own both the topps and bowman and i can tell you that the topps has much more impact. this can be seen in the price difference between the two issues.
to address the orignal op request for opinions on this specific psa 2 mantle, it is graded right where it should be. nice card.

The 1952 Topps Mantle is his first Topps card, and the 1989 Upper Deck Nolan Ryan is his first Upper Deck card, but neither one is a rookie card

<< <i>Saying the 1952 Topps Mantle is his rookie card, is like saying the 1989 Upper Deck Nolan Ryan is his rookie card. >>
Ryan's rookie card was in 1989? I thought his Upper Deck rookie was in 1972?
