Drilling a slab ?

I want to crack an old ASA slab to send in to PSA and I am thinking of drilling holes to create weak areas to break it open.

Any suggestions? And don't tell me it's trimmed image

  • It's recolored? image Just kidding. It may work but I would think it would be easier just to break off a corner and pry it apart with a screwdriver. Or if you have a Dremel just cut all the way around the case.

Be a real man and just break it in half with your bare hands! That's what Johnny Bench would do.

I asked Bench if he could break it open with his bare hands and he said Yes!

But he wanted $50 to do it

But that's a $50 break from his website so it's really a bargain when you think about it.

  • I busted a BCCG slab last night which I believe would be thicker than the entombment you currently have your trimmed recolored card in. Busting the corners of the slab with a pair of pliers is by far the easiest way. The BCCG slab popped right open after the corners were break.

BTW, the Johnny Bench line is the funniest stuff I have seen on here in a while. That is almost as funny as ISTHTY.

At least he didn't break it open...and then ask for $50

From what I recall about the ASA slabs, you should be able to just get a thin flat head screwdriver between the 2 halves and pry the slab open. I've only cracked one open and that was a couple of years ago.

Mail it to yourself and let the P.O. do it.

What a garbage slab! There are no corner notches and it appears the card can just slide all over slab.

That's a nice oc, dinged corner gem mint card there!

Even worst, the bottom corners of the inside case look rounded.
