Do you Ever Bump Into the same Ebay Buyer Over and Over

I guess I am venting to some degree, but do you ever find yourself losing auctions to the same buyer over and over again? In the last two weeks I have lost multiple auctions ( 67 Seaver PSA 8, 54 Aaron PSA 7, 74 Winfield PSA 9, 80 Henderson PSA 9)to: Sttevegolf. I am sure he is a great guy, but man is it frustrating. Either he and I have good taste in cards, or we are both incredibly stupid. Either way, I was just curious if anyone has ever had someone that they competed with over and over for a certain card?

Me and one buyer used to bump into each other all the time and would end up in bidding wars. It got to where I knew what cards he needed in the set and he knew what cards i needed. We would keep each other posted on new listings the other needed as well.

I'd say 75% of the auctions I bid on are also bid on by t***t (1141)...

Oh yes and its freakin' annoying as hell. JRMazzeo is the culprit, he outbids me nearly every time when it comes to 52 Bowman Large Football.

I have a few people I would file under N for Nemesis. Bidders alveoliman and mshups are the two that used to make me go broke trying to get Yount PSA 10's and now Dmitri Young's buyer (cbailey758) is killing me on Yount rookies. There are plenty of others I see pretty regularly in my buying, though.

Imagine that.

Back in 97-98, when I first started buying/selling 86 Fleer sets, I used to see the same small group of people on almost every 86 Fleer basketball auction. There were just a handful of us who had actually started submitting the commons for grading at that point.

The fact that you could see all the IDs who bid on the item and not just the high bidder made it alot easier to see who all was interested in the items. I understand why Ebay did away with that, but I miss it.

That would be him Randy! The guy has a very nice collection, he actually has about 3 posts here on CU all of them looking for Vintage Football

There are a half dozen or so guys that always seem to be in the same hunt that I am,
but no one dominates.

What's funny is that our hidden eBay IDs mean nothing, now that we've figured out who's who after
bidding on numerous same auctions.

I've actually received congratulatory emails (via "ask seller a question") a few times from respected nemeses.

And then there are occasions when I know not to further my bidding .... like when I see des1728 or ebrehm.

No sense trying to stop those trains! Even snipes are senseless against their bids most of the time.

I've learned to just set a limit on how much I want to invest in a purchase and if I win, great, if not, there
will be others.

If you let it get personal, you'll tend to spend way too much. Bidding wars only benefit the seller

Not really a nemesis, but I've placed bids on the last four 1966 PSA 8 Lou Klimchocks on eBay. On 3 of the 4, I was outbid by mets-71. He's been mentioned before on here. Deep pockets. Spends thousands and thousands per month on eBay. But Lou Klimchock? Even Lou Klimchock himself doesn't need 3 1966 PSA 8s. You just have to laugh about it because it makes no sense.

I got tired of losing out on every Emmitt Smith card to some guy on Ebay , now i collect Barry Sanders cards , nobody bids on those

Everytime a REAL card comes up I want. I wake up in coldsweats from old Jstorm. I even bid double what id like to pay raw or graded.

Its not to often i get geared up for an auction maybe 10 times a year. 3 years ago i did well then he found my honeyhole. Last year i batted 2-15 this year im ofer-infinity.

des1728, (Donald Spence) has been a bidder I dreaded seeing in an auction I was bidding on. Not much chance I was going to win anything he had his eye on. I've also gone very far over my budget on a few lots that I knew he was bidding on because there was no chance I'd have to cough up the dough.

Anthony.aol (Griffins) use to win everything else that Spence didn't outbid me on.
