Found this piece today. It looks like a Jeton of some kind 26mm x 1.7grams, very thin. Any thoughts as to identification and value?

    Yep. Nuremberg jeton of Hans Schultes.

    Stand by while I fetch that link again.

    Here's that page.

    There were three masters named "Hans Schultes", apparently. Hans Schultes, I, II, and III.

    That puts this one circa 1553-1612.

    Value? Tennish, probably. That would be my guess. You have nice surfaces but a slightly raggedy flan, there. The pictorial design elements are very common on Nuremberg jetons and I have had some Krauwinckels with the same elements.

    They do rather sound like something made with brown sugar, or perhaps almond paste and marzipan.

    This piece is so thin one could crumble it up for the topping!

    Thanks for the link MiLord - added to my favorites. Some interesting reading. 400+ years old makes this my oldest piece.
