    It might of had the snot beat out of it but how could anyone consiously part with a proof?

    I wonder if this coin would grade? image
    I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    Looks like it could have been someone's pocket piece for sometime and they decided to spend it or spent it by mistake. Cool find.

    Recently, at the one next to the entrance to Safeway, I discovered I could push the return button and receive a different coin than the one I put in. I could stand there and search the whole machine starting with the same nickel, dime and quarter. I have to admit, I actually gave it some thought (but stopped myself after about 5 nickels).

    Yeah, like I said, it's right next to the entrance. If it were somewhere less conspicuous, where I wouldn't be seen by the neighbors, that might be different... image

    i think it is a very cool find even though it's very beat up...makes you wonder how long it's actually been circulating

    That's really not a lot of wear. It looks like about thirty typical transactions but
    for a proof that might have taken a while because some people will pull these
    out.

    I'd guess it spent a total of about 2 months in circulation but took about a year
    and a half to do it. Obviously there's no real way to know how long it took.

    That works with dollar coins in some modern Coke machines.
    Put in a coin and hit return and you get another.

    No lie, I did that same thing once. I put a quarter in a vending machine, and kept going for a solid 15 minutes. Best thing I got was a Bicentennial, though image
