Buyer threatens me today, says "if you do not reply by Monday I will report you." WTF?

Buyer buys card. I send card via DC (less than $50). Card is on its way, mailed three days after auction end, two days after payment. He sends me message today, saying he hadn't received it, and adds "I will have to report you if you do not reply by Monday. Have a nice day?"

You boys got any witty responses to throw back at him?

    +1

And tell him to quit the hobby
  • Let him report you, you have done nothing wrong and report him for feedback extortion it might or might not get results.
  • Chalk it up as another ebay a-hole. I wouldn't even give him the time of day. Check the DC and see what it says. You have that as your back up and if he reports I would just contact Ebay.

The ONLY "reply" that is proper is:

"Here is your USPS Delivery Confirmation Number.

    xxxxxxxxxxxxx

You may view the shipping-status of your item at usps.com.

    Thank You. "

    ...........................

Any other "reply," will just make the matter worse.

Man, I hope ebay's stock crashes. Anything to get their CEO fired and put an end to all this nonsense.

BTW, I agree with storm - just give the loser the dc number. Maybe you could also throw in a link to a dating service.

I always e-mail each buyer with the ship date and the DC number - This might help you to avoid situations like this as well as build a base of repeat customers.
  • Agree with Storm. Maybe refer him to your shipment terms. If you don't have any preset, suggest adding them. Sometimes the buyer will feel embarassed that they didn't read it. If the buyer persists, just send them the link to the DC and don't respond to any more messages unless it's through Ebay's formal dispute system.

You can zing him without telling him by letting us know his ebay user name. If he ends up on enough blocked bidder lists he may eventually figure out that he is being an anus.

Any suggestion that the PITA-buyer is an illiterate phule, will assure a NEG for the seller.

That just happened on the coin-side last week.

Seller: If you will reread my listing you will see....."

Buyer's NEG: "Asked seller a question he gave me a smartass aswer."

(EBAY removed the "ass" comment, BUT the NEG stuck.)

NEVER refer an idiot buyer back to your TOS, unless you want a NEG.

Escalation is easy. I am the best there is at it, but there is not a vote in it
    on today's EBAY.

De-escalation takes MAJOR restraint. It is the ONLY way for small-sellers
to remain on EBAY, in the face of the coming purge.

  • The way buyers are getting it is getting harder and harder to restrain. I was assured by dead help the other day any buyer who makes a clear demand for freebies or anything will be suspended if reported. I will believe it when I see it.

    Good for you.
  • I know we have to wait 7 days before we file a NPB, so with that in mind shouldn't the buyer also have to wait 7 days for delivery before filing a INR. geez , I have 4 items right now that are past 8 days since I paid for them and will wait another 7 days before I even email the sellers asking where item is? let alone file a claim with Ebay. give us the buyers/loser ID so I can put them on my Blocked bidders/ eljerkos list. image

So I play nice, and just give him the DC. Which by the way said the package was in PA, ready to be delivered on Monday (today). Card was delivered today. He leaves me this feedback:

    "Nice card, OK shipping"

This warranted the following reply by me:

"Absolutely pathetic. Paid 9/2, shipped 9/5. USPS took 10 days to deliver."

I also contacted the SOB and told him that I'm blocking him from all future auctions and that I will post his ID to collecting message boards so others can do the same. So if anyone wants to give jhay1111 the bidness for his douchebaggery, have at it. Jackass.

I wouldn't be tickled if a card took 13 days either. It may not be your fault, but it is still 13 days.

  • I'd be mad too. BUT clearly it's not your fault. Everyone always wants someone to point the finger at. How many feedbacks does this psycho have?
  • RonBurgundyRonBurgundy Posts: 5,491 ✭✭✭
LOL at the suggestion that 10 of the 13 days are on me. I guess I'm the Postmaster General.

And for the record, he paid late at night on 9/2, so I didn't see the payment until the morning of 9/3.

Sounds like another buyer to block.
  • You know, I'm too the point as a seller that I get steamed at least once or twice a week because of jerks like this guy. I mean, ebay does nothing to help the seller. Period. Usually, if I see the person has less than like 10-15 feedback I dump them.
As a seller, when I buy, I'm a lot more understanding. But it's crazy. Everytime I receive a package it always has something extra in it. Feedback bait. Well, I'll say this, IMHO, with how things are in the economy now, Ebay is going to have to deliver something to sellers to keep interest sparked.

I'm at the end of a fairly big selling period for me on Ebay. When it's done, I'm pretty much done there except for an occasional sales here and there. No more, it's just not worth the headache it's become.

Are you telling me that you don't mind if it takes your recent purchase 13 days for you to receive it? I agree, it's not the seller's fault, but I still wouldn't be happy. I agree the buyer shouldn't have taken his frustration out on the seller, I am just pointing out that his frustration is justified, but it shouldn't be aimed at the USPS.

I wonder if any ebay'ers have gone to the person's house who has complained and beat them up. I have often thought about it, but I don't feel like going to jail. I am sure it has happened before and probably rightfully deserved.
