Odd piece of Mail, Ebay seller Jeandoll222 arrested

I recieved a letter from a federal agent today with the postal inspectors office. It seems a Chicago area individual was accepting payments under assumed names and Po boxes at UPS stores throughout IL, IN, NM, and WI. On 8/18/08 there was an arrest made and Mail fruad charges were filed in relation to this case. BTW there were 1628 transactions. WIERD! Glad to see someone got in trouble, I got my card no problem though, was I a lucky one?

actually not weird, this is a common ebay scam, people set up "fake" accounts, run the accounts to develop a "positive"reputation, with the intent to defraud from the beginning....by using fake names, or a "business" name going to a PO box, the crooks think (mistakenly) that they will get off scott free because they are not using their real names.....
the way the law is set up, you cannot hide from crimes simply because you dont use your real name.....actually it adds a layer of deceit the government frowns upon and usually are stronger in their prosecution because of the added deceit...
oh yeah, these scammers also save all address' of their victims.... for what purpose we havent figured out yet, one i know was simply selling the lists to a "mailing list "company for a few extra bucks...

There is no question as to why criminals save the addresses.
