HELP!! As a seller, FEEBAY really smells bad. Any realistic alternatives from you guys?

I have some high dollar cards I want to sell over the next few months and with Feebay now wanting more of my hard earned dollars requiring only PAYPAL which is a total ripoff ( for high dollar cards, I would require payment by cashiers check only as it is the best protection and keeps Feebay from making me use Paypal). I was thinking of checking out Craig's List or other online auction houses that have a good chance of selling my high dollar cards without them sitting for months. Feebay is only hurting themselves in the end because of GREED. You guys got any REALISTIC suggestions? chaz

seriously, i used to use epier, it was not good, ised to sell on sold.com out of australia till ebay bought it, yahoo is gone,prob from ebay too, the b/s/t forum is a great place!!!! ebay used to be great,now all they want is to tell me what to do,when to do it, and take my $,complete control of an obidient worker!!sounds like my wife

Sellers will not be able to say they accept money orders or anything like that anymore, but buyers can still send them just like with cash.
They are not a Monoploy because you are not forced to use their service. One thing though that is going to nail them is there is a corporate law that makes it illegal to base special benefits on a one sided system. The DSR/ Fee Discount falls into that category there is rumor of a class action suit being put together right now on that matter. The new policy of less than a 4.3 DSR and you cannot sell falls into that as well, especially with the lies that Ebay is telling buyers on that. They tell buyers 4 stars is good, but sellers they say 4 stars is not good.

In October, ProPay, PayPal, or an "approved merchant account" will be the choices.
If you research ProPay, you will find that outfit is essentailly "an arm" of WFC.
WFC is the primary clearing agent for PP transactions.
Think of it this way:
PayPal has a merchant account that WFC granted.
PayPal lets us "use" that MA and we pay PP a fee for the use.
Charges are cleared through WFC, and WFC charges PP a fee
for the service.
The difference between what we pay PP and the amount PP
pays WFC is PP's gross-profit.
Now enter the shielding gang.
The legal question is: How does PP force its service on sellers,
WITHOUT having legal troubles related to "tying agreements?"
SIMPLE: Bring a WFC-tool into the mix. Assure that ProPay is
always more expensive than PP, and always cheaper than a
REAL "merchant account."
PP receives a discount on WFC clearing AND/OR a fee from
every ProPay transaction. (The $35 annual ProPay fee is
enough to cover some of the discounts/rebates that WFC
has negotiated with PayPal.)
Subverting the Clayton Act - anti-tying - is the key to the
scheme. PP also needs to stay within the "spirit" of the
sundry consent-decrees that it has enetered into with
assorted AGs. Their lawyers say this kite will fly.
Within a few months, the AGs and the PP lawyers will be
chatting with Federal Judges.

EBAY is a broken company. Their biz-model cannot perform
as a growth company MUST to retain Wall-Street's institutional
investors. Tutes own about 70% of the paper. 20% is owned
by the "insiders;" including the corp itself.
EBAY has propped the PPS - even though at a 5-year low - using
SHAREHOLDERS' money to buy-back shares in the faltering pyramid
scheme. There is still more than $1B in the BB-fund, and when it is
empty... the corrupt and incompetent BOD will vote more "rescue $s"
and more shares will be repurchased.
When the tutes finally figure out what is REALLY happening, they
will dump like mad and we will be looking at about a $6 stock. That
fairly values PayPal, if EBAY related transactions are backed-out of
PP revenues.
PP is currently in a desperate drive to sign-up B&M merchants for
"card present" transactions. They will largely fail.

If google threw $100+M to "compete," they could easily lose it all.

I hate Feebay as well. They are arrogant.... period. They give you all this marketing crap about how they are going to make it better. Leave it the hell alone!!!! Feebay had a decent business model but they sit around all day in their "meetings" and cubicles figuring out ways how to screw the sellers. Just leave it alone!! But they have to continue to make money for their shareholders and look good to Wall Street but all they are doing is making it worse. chaz

The needs and wants of ALL of us who sell on EBAY are at complete
odds with those of EVERY corporate entity that "could" deliver an
EBAY-alternative.
google, YHOO, MSFT, AMZN, EBAY all know that a site for small-sellers
cannot make the kind of money required to retain institutional-investor
interest in the project.
NONE of the big guys are going to "save us," if it means they have to
spend money to compete with EBAY.
EBAY - and ALL of the others - have seen the future, and it does NOT
involve ANY of us. The AMZN model is the ONLY one that works; that
is where EBAY and the others will focus their efforts at duplication.
By December 1, 2008, most folks here will not even recognize EBAY.
WMT and every other BIG-BOX on the planet is preparing to flood the

eBay's Operation Catalog Flies Under the Radar

eBay announced a Diamond-level PowerSeller tier in June, and as I blogged in mid-August, more companies will be joining Buy.com and be allowed to list on the site for free. Now I'm hearing that eBay is introducing a pilot program next month in which a number of manufacturer and big-box retailer catalogs will be launched to eBay. Third-party vendors will work with these sellers to get them onto the eBay platform - no small feat given the quantity of product SKUs in their catalogs.
These Diamond PowerSellers will be given special privileges. Commission (FVF) fees will be negotiated individually, and it's my understanding that participants in this pilot will not be charged listing fees, nor will they have to meet eBay's seller standards during the 90-day pilot program, which I've dubbed Operation Catalog.
The potential Gross Merchandise Volume of these sellers is enormous, and it fills out eBay's product line and helps it move toward providing a more uniform buying experience on the site, or so it hopes.
The flood of inventory onto the site in October could have a major impact on certain sellers in categories affected. As I write in tomorrow's editorial in AuctionBytes-Update, not only will some sellers find themselves competing with the manufacturer of the product they sell, but that competitor is getting free listings and better exposure.
If Operation Catalog does roll out in October as expected, sellers will find themselves going up against competition they never knew existed, with no time to adjust their selling strategy during the all-important holiday shopping season.

It appears that EBAY is less concerned with STRs than with GMV of listings AND raw-listing counts.
buy.com likely has the worse STR in the HISTORY of EBAY.
BUT, buy.com has at least one listing expiring ever second of every day. Often, many more.
Instead of having 13M+ listings, EBAY appears ready to offer on the road to 100M. It is possible
that such an increase could translate into revenues, but I don't see it happening. The padding
of listings is more likely designed to further mislead Wall Street; LC has been the key-metric used
to forecast revenues.
LC is meaningfull, when STRs are at 50% to 80%. At <2% to 5%, LC don't mean JACK.

My current concerns in the collectible categories are several:
Most sellers are buyers. If all the little sellers get run off, they will no longer be buyers.
New buyers - seeing a WalMart site - will run away before they have a chance to explore for collectibles.
Large sellers have TERRIBLE customer service records. This will further chase away buyers that might
have become collectible customers.
General word-of-mouth is going to continue to deteriorate the customer base.

at EBAY. Executives have been fleeing fast in the past 60-days, and now the CS
folks will likely be substantially reduced. This is not a sign that everything is OK.
