post-2000th post contest, kinda sorta

Thanks to the bazillion cards I still haven't sorted from the garage sale stuff, I really need to get rid of some cards. Plus, I wasted my 2000th post arguing with a moron on the garage sale thread. Anyway, with all the wax (mostly late 70's and early 80's stuff) I have busted in the last few months, I filled an 800 count box with cards of HOF'ers for my son to have soon. Hopefully, this will get him into collecting and hopefully he will actually read the back of the cards as I did when I was his age.

So, for this giveaway, I will fill a small box (at least 100 cards) with random HOF'ers and future HOF'ers cards from all different sports from 1978-2008 and maybe a few rookies thrown in. Cards are intended for a child with hopes of getting them interested in collecting. This is a great hobby that gave me endless hours of entertainment as a child and still does today but is dying because of overpriced new material and scam artists.

Only requirements to enter the giveaway are that you must have a child (honor system here boys and girls) and you must give the cards to that child or spread them amongst the kids. You must also PM their name if you win so I can ship them addressed to them. Some people on here sent some stuff addressed to my son and he thought it was the coolest thing ever.

Giveaway Questions (no definite answer, just opinions):

Who is the greatest football player in LSU history?
Who is the greatest baseball player in LSU history?
Who is the greatest basketball player (Shaq and Pistol Pete excluded) in LSU history?

If you happen to name an LSU football player that used to work for me, I will throw in a bonus prize for you to keep and not give to the kiddos image

Got to be honest, I don't have a clue about LSU but do have a son that is going to turning 7 and he is just getting interested in cards.

Ok, ok, he really just wants to tear through my room and open everything up and play with all my toys. Been giving him some non-sports (Star Wars/Batman/MTG/Star Trek) and some hockey cards and he loves them. image

Cool giveaway as it's always fun to get the younger ones involved with our addiction, err, um hobby. image
  • LSU had no great players....this is a trick question.

My son is 9 and I have about 1500 or so loose cards laying on my desk and he understands about condition. He gets on the computer but knows not to touch the cards because he may hurt the value. I think my lesson on condition has backfired. Now he won't even touch them.

first...my son is Sean Hodgins. He is turning 4 in two months. I have started early getting him into collecting. Every Saturday he and I head down to the local Comic/Sports card store to buy me some goodies and him a new copy of Teeny Titans, Transformers Animated and a few packs of cards for us both.

    second...

Wouldn't be a smart move on my part to leave loose cards around as he puts his on the floor, stacks them up and plays with them but brings a smile to me seeing him enjoying them so I don't say a word.

Enough about the garage sale stuff. You're never going to recoup your $500.

Not when I am giving the cards away. Gave a friend of mine 6 football sets today. He is starting a set run of football cards for his son who is 8 years old. I'm a sucker.

Seriously I have no clue, know diddly about LSU, but my two cents I have two 11 year old boys, love the Football cards. Both have their First game of the season, one this Sat. he is the Center, largest and tallest on the team, 125 pounds and GROWING ! Our other Boy's first game is Sunday, he is going to start at an Offensive Guard position and play some Defense. Can't wait for it to start, This is what it's all about!!! Can't tell I'm a proud Daddy !!!!

My kids are all grown up and now giving me grandkids. The fact that I am only 44 years old makes me feel real old when I actually say "I have grandkids!!"

Hopefully I can get them involved in the hobby but they are only 1 year old and 1 month old right now. Gives me a few more years to organize all my stuff and get them ready to hand over to the little guys!!
I am on a budget and I am not afraid to use it!!

I don't have any kids of my own, but I've gotten my nephew-in-law interested in cards now, so I guess I'll play if that counts. image
