Could I get in trouble with eBay if I did this?

If I were to post an auction like this, could I get in trouble or take a feedback hit or something?

"1 1979 Wax Pack purchased from Overtime cards. I opened the other four packs which were very obviously searched. This is the fifth one. Want a bunch of VG-Ex commons? This pack is for you. $5.00. If you want more packs like this, but want a dishonest description instead, please view auctions from seller "otcards" or "overtimecards". Thanks!"

I imagine the most that would likely happen is they end the auction. I would however add the work "appear", such as "the other four packs appear to be very obviously searched.
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

I like this idea alot better than bidding on someone's fraudulent auction and leaving lies for negative feedback. A bit more civilized....and funny.

    Only if they catch you
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

I like people who are not afraid to take matters in their own hands when the powers that be refuse to address an important situation. I also like people who are not afraid to enter a group pack rip instead of just sitting back and questioning the products or making fun of the people willing to participate because they did not get any of the cards they were searching for.

When did I ever make fun of anyone for participating in group rips? I'd really like to know.

EBAY will remove listings that offer opinions not "required" for the routine
    sale of the listed item.

A "policy strike" will be attached to the offender's account. This can affect
    search-results positioning on future listings.

A safer way to attack resealers is to buy and pay for their garbage. File
a SNAD, and leave NEGs. If enough folks did this, the resealers would
    soon be driven out.

although I didn't specifically state a seller here is a description I used with a 68 rack pack and I did not get in trouble

<< <i>You are bidding on a 1968 Topps Rack PAck. This is a real rack pack from Topps containing 36 cards , not one of those phony Christmas packs that are popping up everywhere. If you want the real deal , not something that was made in your neighbors basement then here it is. Thanks for looking and check out my other auctions for more high end collectibles. >>

    //////////////////////////////////////////////

That language is not a violation.

You are just pumping your product and contrasting/comparing it to other products.
    Perfectly fine to do that.

    ...........................

"I have no confidence in SGC and ONLY sell PSA-graded cards."

    That is fine.

"My competitor - EBAY-ID Johnx123XYZABC - is a crook and sells resealed packs."

    That is NOT fine.

I remember that auction. I almost never search rack auctions but saw that one and commend you for the X-Mas rack mention.

  • Good day,
Clown got me to, I sent him a check for $60.00 for 10 of those packs a couple of days ago. Feedback looked good and there was no hint of trouble and then this morning all his stuff is gone and he is NLRU. Called bank and stopped payment on check but my Bank is raping me for $32 for the stop payment. I guess better out $32 than $60.

Yeah - except most banks don't guarantee that the payment is actually stopped. it still could go through.
  • I hope you do list your pack, and when it doesn't sell, then relist it too! keep the price at 9.95 and you will get more than enough enjoyment from your lsiting fees.
Even if ebay pulled it, I don't think you would get in trouble. In order to only provide info that is relevant to selling the item, you could list the previous auction number and seller's name. No harm in that. You might want to make sure to point out that you are an experienced collector for credibility purposes At this point ,we are looking forward to seeing the auction - please post the link if you do it!

  • Only if you post here and somebody rats you out.

  • List it on a 24 hour auction and go to every sportscard website posting a link on every thread you can find. You obviously want to list it because they screwed you. That would be a good way to get a small sense of satisfaction for a few bucks in listing fees.
