The Ugliest Set on the Planet is Now Complete! 1952 Baseball Emblem

I picked this one up - which is the last of 16 that I needed. It's taken me 4 yrs to complete - the full set comes up from time to time - but what fun would that be?

Here it is! The Phillies - it's totally anecdotal evidence - but it appears that the Phillies copy comes up the least often vs. the others. So, perhaps the Phillies is a SP?

For those who've missed my other posts on the set - here's the checklist which I've put in the order that they finished the season in 1952.

The Yanks prevailed over the Dodgers that season.

American League

1. Yanks
2. Indians
3. White Sox
4. Athletics
5. Senators
6. Red Sox
7. Browns
8. Tigers

National League

1. Dodgers
2. Giants
3. Cardinals
4. Phillies
5. Cubs
6. Reds
7. Braves
8. Pirates

This is definitely one of those sets that ranks way up there on the oddball list!

I can't believe I finally finished it! image

Thanx for the kind words guys - for those who may have missed their "beauty" - or should I say ugliness - here's some more samples of these wonders of the universe!

The cardbacks are 5X5" square - not very large. I'm thinking of having them framed - so they'll keep me up at night! image

Again, thanx for supporting my "odd" stuff - I know it's not cards - and they don't glow in the dark - and there's no sig anywhere in sight.

That concludes another area - We'll just have to see what I come up with next?! image

In my view, there's no such thing as a 50's or 60's baseball card that is "ugly" - they are all beautiful to me image

Yes, looks like a brain with a face...but it's my favorite. I'm partial to brains with faces.

I had the exact opposite reaction, LOL. Looks like a brain or something. Ugh.

But beautiful in all its ugliness image

    Congrats on completing the set!

  • I think they are charming in their ugliness. sometimes things can be perfectly crappy.
I wonder if they had to pay any licensing to Buddy Ebsen for the Jed Clampett likeness of the Nat Lea. Washington Senators piece?
