  • Without seeing a scan, would be pretty difficult to help. Post a few scans here and I am sure we can help.
  • Show us a scan so that we know what we're working with.

Quik many of the really good pics you see on ebay are self hosted.

Are you using ebays pic format?

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • Scan look spretty clear to me. The second auction you posted would probably have been helped by reducing the brightness or contrast. There appears to be quite a lot of surface smudge that could have been reduced through editing.

Jeff, your scans are actually pretty good.

If you would like them larger, just use the self hosting option and link them from your photobucket account.

I do this and my scans come out large and quite nice

Here is an example of one that I just sold.

Just scan them in and upload them to photobucket, cropped but not resized. Photobucket will resize them and they will come out nice and large.

    They look OK.

EBAY's supersize-option - or photobucket - can make them bigger for you.

I always want to see ALL edges of the slab; I would crop a little looser.

Also, cards with a scan of the back sometimes sell for a little more.

  • Thanks so much guys i think that photobucket is what i need. Also is ebays supersize option easy to find ? i dont recall seeing that. Anyways Thanks for the help Jeff

Self hosting lets you use your actual scan instead of having ebay lower the resolution.

Use your photobucket acct to host it and then when you type up your auction use HTML code and it will go easy

remove the spaces between the brackets

< p > starts a new paragraph so all your sentences don't run together

< c > centers your words or pictures in the middle of the page

< img src = " the url of your picture at photobucket " > inserts the picture in the auction

then remember to delete your pic from photobucket after the auction ends so someone else doesn't make an auction with your card and scan

If you want to try that and need/want help to get thru it, PM me and I'll help you get there

  • What is the best background? Black or white? Does it depend on the color of the card? I had a terrible time scanning 1971 raw cards.

Nice easy to understand answer Jim. I guess I tend to use "<P align=center>" rather then "< c >" but it is the same thing.

Here are a couple I wrote that I use. The first is for a front only scan, the second is for front and back scans of a card and will nestle them next to each other.

    <P align=center><center><img src= "YOUR IMAGE HERE"></center><P align=center>

    <P align=center><center><img src= "YOUR FIRST IMAGE HERE"><img src= "YOUR SECOND IMAGE HERE "></center><p align="center">
