feel like I got set up a bit here

ok... I saw an auction of a card I wanted.. no bids yet.. I messaged the seller and asked if he
has a BIN he would consider...
he responded.. what will you offer???
so I make a fair offer based on recent closed items...
he responds.......
"I think that is a fair offer, but it's unethicle ( not my spelling error )
of me to do something like that. I started by
always being honest and fair. So I have to continue as I started this auction.
Sorry"
so I responded....I understand.. just curious why you'd have me make an offer?
I feel like I got set up.. and feel like not bidding out of spite... like he will just shill me up to my price anyway

But, yeah, now you're gonna hafta be wary of that auction.
It's OK though -- more time to post threads for lawnmowerman to post in.

It's hard to know what goes on in EBAYers' heads.
Maybe he would have sold, if the offer was higher.
No way to know about shilling, but, so far, there is
no evidence he will do that.
You could bid less than your first offer.
If he accepts tell him it wouldn't be fair to all the other ebayers
that may be contemplating bidding on the auction.

I emailed a guy awhile back. Same story. I made a $200 offer. He never responded. Well, what do you know I win it for $200 and the only bids over $50 was from a guy who has bought alot from the seller all of his buy/sells were vintage. Not 1 modern card like this was. He increased by $10 every time, most likely to "feel" my bid and keep raising it. That's the day I took up sniping. Good Luck.
