How much is a 1977 Yankees team auto....

I have a 1977 Yankees team autographed baseball. All the sigs are on there except for Reggie Jackson which I found odd. The Munson is exceptional, maybe a PSA/DNA 9, the rest are between an 8 and 9...Any thoughts on what this might go for? I will post scans later today when my wife gets back with the camera.

<< <i>The casing holding the ball says 1977 and the owner lived in the Bronk and got the ball himself. I matched all the names to the 77 team and they were correct other then missing Reggie. I can assure you this ball is not a printed item. The autos are done in deep blue pen and are in NM/MT state. I'm temped to scan the damn thing...I'll post one in a few! >>
OK, looking forward to seeing the scans....This wasn't the guy who got it from washing cars/shoveling snow, etc? (I remember seeing a bogus ball with that background story on one of the boards)

<< <i>Looks like a facsimile auto to me. >>
My first reaction also. But that is a horrible scan so I won't pass judgement just yet.
<< <i>and the owner lived in the Bronk >>
Being that the owner lived out of his truck, I doubt that it's real.
Although I have picked up some nice audio equipment most likely from the same dude.
Good luck!

he pitched for the 76 Team.

<< <i>FWIW Doyle Alexander DID NOT play for the 77 Yankees.
he pitched for the 76 Team.

Good catch!!
He was traded to the Yankees on June 15th, 1976, from the Orioles. Then on November 23rd, 1976, he signed as a free agent with the Rangers. That explains why Reggie isn't on it, since he was with the Orioles in 1976, and didn't sign with the Yankees until November 29th, 1976.
Steve
Alexander was traded to the Yanks during the season.
Nice item.
Worth 10.00? Maybe 20.00?

Anyone that has an auto ball (even if a cube) says 1977 tries to narrow down the date
After we help this guy out he disappears without even a 'yeah I see that'
Was this a scam try? Does anyone know this guy?
Steve
edit: fake is not the correct word, I should say faux, Facsimile or repro.
Still the question remains.
The way this guy left bothers me, he was online while we were 'helping' him
save PSA DNA fees.

I thought it was scam from the start.

That assurance, and a token, will just barely get me on the subway.

My guess is he's a thrift/antique/flea market kind of a store in Vermont who sells things on consignment and takes the consigner's word for everything.
Probably a big guy, heavy smoker, tells people they "can't afford" something all the time. Knows what stuff is worth after looking at Beckett, completely disregarding things like centering. His stuff is "high end" but when he's buying it's kind of rough and not worth much.
He probably took the ball on consignment as a real one and when it was shown to be fake he's gone for a while. Couple weeks ago he had a bad Ruth signed photo with a weak COA.
He'll be back, like a bad penny.
First off I simply was asking a question, I did not say this was a scam.
The forum has been scammed many a times with situations just like this.
I can't remember everyone that drops by here. I meant no disrespect.
I agree with you though I do like to stir up trouble.

<< <i> Perhaps it is a reprint..

Mike:
no need for even "perhaps"
Mike the scanner has nothing to do with it. IT IS a facsimile and it is not a 77.
Hope that helps.

<< <i>Why doesn't anyone ever come on this board with "I have a 1981 Oakland A's ball, and can see Mike Norris and Wayne Gross but can't find Shooty Babbit's name on it anywhere?" It's always the high profile team, high profile names with great stories....... >>
Just when I thought we were headin' downhill, you come in and save the day!!!

Holy S&^*, you must have been an FBI profiler or something. Heavy set and a smoker...right to a "T". I actually do live in VT and my wife and I own a consignment store LOL although I primary business is golf course construction/renovation. It is just not that great of a business these days. I have been a member of CU for over 3 years and primarily collect vintage baseball cards. I have relied on fellow board members for advice many times. Please notice that the "Ruth Auto" is not on eBay nor is this NYY Team ball. We are the type who do research before we sell. Everyone makes mistakes and we limit ours by asking when we don't know the answer.
Thank you all who have helped in the past!
Mike
I concur with those who believe the ball has "stamped" sigs - just take a loupe to the sigs - they won't have a hint of pen indentation and will just not have the "feel" of signed balls.
Even tho there's loads of them around - it's still a nice collectible that's sold at the stadium - my favorite is still the team pins that were a dime.

Hope you didn't pay more than a few bucks for this one. If so, I'd want a refund.
