Broken PSA holder in PWE

A few days ago I bought the following card:

1979 TCMA, Willie Mays Baseball Card #6 PSA EX-MT

Today it arrived in a PWE with the holder shattered into three pieces. The Willie Mays card now has a long horizontal crease. It's not that big a deal, because I only paid $7.00 for the card. Does this type of thing happen often? When I send a PSA card, it's always in a bubble-wrap envelope or cardboard box.

Note: seller has 195 feedback score, with 100% positive.

    Doesn't sound right to me.
  • Wow. You've got to be crazy to send a PSA slab in a plain envelope. You have an extreme example, but even if you hadn't, it'd still be too easy to end up with a cracked slab... a shipping container placed wrong or an errant step by one of the USPS handlers, and CRUNCH...

Beckett's slabs would fare better, but so what -- they look ugly with scratches and chips!

I'd definitely mention it to the seller. Bulk size 000 and size 0 padded mailers are NOT pricy. And they provide a world of protection to slabbed cards. Yeah, it was "just $7.00," but you wanted that card and bought it with the belief that it'd arrive exactly as pictured: uncreased.
Nolan Ryan & Edgar Martinez are my favorite players...

That seller should be beat with a garden hose.

How much did he charge you for shipping?

$7 or not you need to get with the seller and request your money back.
  • Yes, I'm planning to contact the seller soon. It was an honest mistake, so I'm not planning to leave negative feedback. He probably doesn't sell cards very often.

Price of card was $3.00, shipping was $4.00 Parcel Post.

I'm surprised that the PSA holder broke. Seems like they are pretty sturdy.

Exactly. Hope the seller refunds your full purchase price and shipping without a hassle. Give him a chance to make it right before getting nasty.

I have even had a PSA holder in a bubble envelope broken in half before.

  • The same exact thing happened to me and the seller would not refund me...so i filed paypal claim. I had to send pics of the card, holder , envelope, etc. I eventually won the claim.

These things do happen. Several years ago, I had a 2.00 PSA graded card mailed in a plain envelope and it cracked
upon arrival. I was stupid for not filing a claim and now I know better.
