Suggestions for selling Dutch Rijksdaalder set

I am going to sell my Rijksdaalder set - all coins from 1898 to 2001 - some duplicates.

Should I:

A) List as one set on Ebay

B) Strip out the expensive coins ( only a handful ) and sell them seperately, then sell the rest of the set as 1 item

Should I go the Ebay route ( with all it's charges ) or try a few dealers first ?

Any other suggestions ?

Many thanks

I can only relate experience in my parts. Dealers generally offer 25-50% of market price. On ebay the scarcer/better grade stuff often sells for more than retail. I generally get better prices selling individual pieces.
  • How about a little more info. How many coins, what you would expect in price (the range) for the full set, etc etc

  • Ah Wayne - I'd have thought that you would have delfed into your Krause already. After all, a good horse runs at the sight of the whip. image

Seriously though, there are 47 coins.

The most expensive coins being worth, in Euros, 200, , 75, 60, 30 and 15. the rest are mostly single digit value coins.

All are in used condition apart from the last 14 coins which are UNC/BU and are worth around 2 Euro to 6 Euro each.

    Hope that helps.

I think you would do much better selling the better ones separately then the remaining ones in several lots of 3-5 coins. As a complete set you will not get the same total price, even after the ebay fees.

You have type set collectors, specific date collectors and, of course, collectors of Dutch and Rijksdaalers who all would not want to buy a whole set just to get 1 or 2 of the coins.
