  I have seen auction house stuff that had one letter cover everything in the lot.

  Yes. When PSADNA authenticates a bulk of autos. They give 1 COA for the whole thing. If you buy it and want an official COA from PSADNA, you need the original COA (which the seller won't give you) or pay the full price for a re-authentication.

  and you only have 45 days from end of auction to upgrade at the discounted price. after 45 days you pay full price for psa/dna

  I know of at least two big auction houses that are NOT happy with the way PSA / DNA does this. I recently went through a situation with an item that was covered by one of these auction house PSA / DNA letters, then rejected by their "Quick Opinion" service when the item later appeared on ebay. The auction house questioned PSA / DNA as to what service is being provided for the thousands of dollars they are paying, and basically got the run-around without a straight answer.
