Ebay sellers; BLOCK THIS BUYER!!!

I contacted this guy to make him aware that I could not get to the post office due to some health issues. I've been here at home for a few weeks because of surgery and then had to get emergency dental surgery. So, needless to say it's been a rough month. Either way, I ask this guy if he will accept a refund on his shipping for the delay. He agree's and tells me he understands. So I refunded the shipping and left positive feedback. Today he negs me. Says it took 3 weeks to get item. It arrived in less time then that.

    Is there any more to the story?

    All of his other feedbacks received and sent look great!

    1st negative he's ever given .... All positives, no neutrals!

    Not sure I'd block him????

  • Yeah, there's more to the story. I just don't talk about personal stuff anymore on here because of flack in the past.

    I message this guy to let him know that his item is going to be delayed. I asked him if he would accept a refund on his shipping because of it or what he would like. He said that a shipping refund would be nice and that he would leave positive feedback. He told me he understood my circumstance and everything. I told him I don't mess around with my customers and that's why I've had 100% feedback for the last 3 years. He said he totally understood and that the refund was enough for him to be satisfied. I left him positive feedback because he was really nice about understanding and agreeing. Also, refunded his money. Sent out his card and he received it in less time than he states because I was tracking it. Then he decides to neg me because he now has a partial refund, the card, and positive feedback.

    I know nothing about you or your past on the boards.

    But, just by reading what you said went down and then by reading his feedbacks sent and received .... it just doesn't all add up.

    I'm not doubting your story at all.

    It just seems odd after reading all of his positive comments about other sellers, that he would neg you after you bent over backwards to please him.

    Again, I see no reason to block the guy because of one instance.

    I hope a few other guys chime in with their views.

  • I'm sure they will. I didn't understand it either. I looked to see if this was a repeat thing that he did. But it's not. I can't understand why he did this. I even sent him a message asking him why he would take a refund, say he understands, and then leave me a neg?! One time in 3 years I have a delay and bend over backwards for someone and this is what happens.
    I just don't get it. Well, I do. He's got a very low feedback count and is probably new. And since Ebay screws the seller now, I guess he felt he could do this. I guess it was bound to happen. You can't keep 100% feedback forever. I'm sure there's more to come. I had over 50 items go out that got delayed. I refunded the shipping on all of them and I'm sure the same will happen. I'm pretty much screwed and I'll have to get a new ID and everything which really sucks. I hate Ebay!

  • I did. I'm just baffled by this situation. I mean, I goofed and the item was delayed. I could have kept the shipping and sent the card. I'm sure that no matter what I was going to get a neg. Just bothers me that someone would agree to a partial refund and be satisfied and then neg. That's all. I'm slowly getting over it now. I had a piece of pizza and a beer. I'm feeling a little better now.

    To me it looks like Guru did the best he could in what sounds like a compliated situation. He even refunded the shipping. No reason for the Neg IMO.
  • I see no reason why a neg would be deserves in this situation, especialy over a $3.42. I know the price as nothing to do with it, but I guess the neg was for the late shipping, which Guru already fixed the problem and admitted it was his fault by refunding the shipping, so a neg was out of the question.

    If the shipping did take long then thats why ebay now puts those 4 categories were you can rate the shipping time and so on, so the buyer should have given that a 3 or a 1 whatever, just not the neg. I think a neg is if you don't get your item, or get it damaged and the seller is nasty and dosen't try to refund you or something like that.

  • I agree with CDs. No offense intended but you are overreacting a little about having to get a new ID. I wouldn't worry too much about one neg. It sucks but it sounds like the rest of your feedback is great. Just move on. No seller likes to get a neg but come on, how many buyers only buy from sellers with only 100% feedback? Not many. Most buyers are smart enough to realize a seller will have a bump in the road and not hold it against them. It's the sellers with a history of bad feedback you have to watch out for. Just curious what kind of surgeries did you ave that kept you out of action so long?
  • Well, that was my initial reaction. Now, it's kinda fading. I'm on beer #3. There's something about beer that encourages the consumption of more pizza.

    Maybe the buyer thought you were just another one of those sellers who uses those excuses for delaying shipping? You know, like how in the Boy Who Cried Wolf story? After he cried wolf (and there was no wolf), the villagers learned not to believe him, even when a wolf did come? Even though you clearly had legit reasons for delaying shipping, he probably just figured you were "crying wolf" so to speak. It's not like he could know for sure one way or the other.

    I think the thread has gone far enough. I would suggest not sharing anymore personal details about your situation; it'll only end in lack of understanding and bashing.

    Guru, you're a good guy and you value your integrity...I totally understand and relate to that sentiment...for what it's worth, know you did the right thing, and no matter what a negative feedback says, your integrity is still intact.

  • If I were looking at your feedback I would see that the USPS messed up here and you get blamed for it, I might not have responded to it at all. I recently got a neg from a buyer because it took 13 days to get delivered.

    Feedback was NEG:Seller sent within 24hrs but took 13 days to arrive.

    Yup all this over 5.00? This buyer needs to get life.


    I would have just mailed the thing out and not even mentioned it to him.


    3 weeks is not the end of the world.
