Anyone have experience with selling a domain name?

I have a couple of domain names that I wouldn't mind selling, but I have no clue on how to sell them, how to transfer them, or what they may be worth. The names are sports card related.

Comments

  • people sell them all the time on ebay...it has to be really good to sell though.

You made me check and see if a domain name I sold awhile back ago was ever utilized....and it was available again, so i paid the $6 to get it back.
    www.bestrookiecards.com

I sold that domain name along with my entire collection of pre-rookies (with the exception of just a few...a college card of trevor, a 1995 west palm vlad, and a few others).

Minors were hot for quite awhile, and I felt they were slipping in value, and i dumped all I had...I sold them at the right time too, because many of them seem quite worthless now.

Sorry to get off track....you just brought back old memories.

    I say this true thing:

I can count on two hands the number of terrible
investments I have ever made in my entire life.
At least one of those hands MUST be full of domain
    name portfolios.

There are two times when a name is valuable:

    1. When it is REALLY good.
    2. When somebody else REALLY needs it.

ALMOST none of them are worth squat.

BUT, if you have a good one, somebody might buy it.

Here are some "appraisers." Some free, some for a fee.
(The fee ones are great, if you want to pay somebody
to tell you how worthless your names are.)

  • Also, a better way of selling it, and cheaper than ebay, is to simply have the url directed to your website or page, and somewhere on that page, state the domain name is available for sale.

I think some of the sites like godaddy.com and others like it, will host sales for domain names. Not sure of the fee involved, but my guess it is a percentage basis.
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

I sold one for $1000. Someone just emailedme and said they noticed I wasn't using the domain name and would offer $1000. so I jumped all over it.
Out of the hobby, but still love my signature cuts.

    www.send-my-ted-williams-pack-or-i-will-break-your-fingers.com or maybe www.collectionmanager.com

Are you going to use the URL to sell your fake Babe Ruth watches?

I sold one called "two girls one cup" not sure what the owner ever did with it. Maybe you guys should check it out.

The watch is just as fake as the unopened Ted Williams pack Allen. If you knew anything about watches you would have asked to see the movement, and not rely on what the back of the watch says.

I always feel the most comfortable buying from these folks.
    They are the highest-price registrars.

    There are many cheaper ones.
