why is this auction going for this much money?

Are people just that desperate to reseal and sell packs?? Is there any legitimate reason why anyone would pay over $50 for an empty box and 6 wrappers?

    Absolutely. I always try to note who buys those for later reference.

    Over the past year and even more so in the last six months there has been an epidemic of resealed "raw" pre-80 baseball & football wax paks being sold on ebay. I've been a nightly ebay viewer of pre-80 paks for the last 5 years now and its getting to the point of being rediculous. There are about a half-dozen sellers who are now routinely listing resealed paks that are so poorly resealed that it actually makes me laugh. Even more absurd is the fact that people are buying every one of them typically in the $50 to $150 range. Two of the most prolific of these sellers have grossed over $1000 in a week selling bogus paks!
    What's even more hilarious is the buyers are always leaving these sellers positive feedbacks with only a few exceptions thus further promoting and encouraging such behavior from unscrupulous sellers.
    Heck, why risk robbing a bank and go to prison when you can sell bogus paks on ebay with impunity while at the same time receive praise from the very people you victimize!!

    The pack part of the hobby is just so SAD. Unfortunately, there are no checks and most people
    are just not educated enough in deciphering what is legit/resealed. I, for one, can't tell. This is the perfect
    scenario for the seller so the crime continues.

    Stuff like old wrappers and boxes should be banned from ebay. I know, people collect them, but the
    policy would greatly reduce resealed packs.

    If TOPPS had the clout that TIF does, there would be few empties available.

    On ALL of EBAY, today, there are TWO TIF paper-bags for sale.
    I don't know how she has stayed under the radar.

    These products are FAR less "dangerous" than the TOPPS boxes/wrappers have become.
