Great Musial pickup at the National

I've spent a good part of the last few days at the National, picking up some odds and ends for my collection. I picked this up today and just can't get over how great it looks. There were only 40 of these made and this is the only one I've seen with part of the Louisville Slugger logo.

I've enjoyed it so far. I've never been to the National before, so I didn't know what to expect. There are definitely deals to be had. I've been picking up singles at fairly good prices (better than ebay) and plan to pay BBCE a visit tomorrow to pick up some wax. I'm also considering picking up one of the $60 blaster cases of 2006 UD from Blowout tomorrow. All in all, well worth the drive.
  • Bring that bad boy into the shop the next time you stop in.
    Very nice!

Who issued this card? Why couldn't they use the Cardinals logo on Stan's hat?

Yep...which is why they were able to include some nice Pete Rose cards in the set.

I normally don't care for "offbrand" cards like this, but I couldn't pass this one up.
  • Yeah, that is a very nice Musial game used bat/jersey card! Congrats.

There are a couple more with other parts of the writing/engraving on them, but none of them I seen were dual bat/jersey pieces. Just bat cards. There is one with part of Musial's nameplate from the bat, and another with part of his sig on the bat piece. It looks like they cut up a game used bat that Stan Musial had previously signed.

Yea, I think they have several decent looking cards, although I don't care for their plain auto cards with all the swirls...
I picked up this last year...not nearly as sweet as yours...
