New e-bay changes suck !!

I have had more non-paying bidders since e-bay has changed tht sellers cannot leave negative feedback. And yes a few are on this board. I won't mention names, i won't stoop to there level. A few of these people sell as well. One even states that he wants to be paid in such as such a time so i e-mailed him and said why don't you practice what you preach ? Another one i asked if i won one of his auctions i'll just deduct what he owes me for mine.
Hope e-bay changes this back to the way it was. Otherwise i'll have alot of bidders on my blockedlist before the year comes to an end !!! I even had a guy e-mail me why he couldn't bid on my auctions. This guy was the first non-paying bidder since e-bay changed things. Told him that he never payed me for the auction that ended over 2 months
ago so he has been blocked from bidding.
I know i heard all the good old seller holding your feedback hostage crap. And honestly it's just that. Crap.... Sellers spend time taking pics, doing the write up etc.. They waste alot of time listing and don't need this crap.
E-mail e-bay and tell them you want it changed back to the way it was..

OK. We will both email them. I will let you know what happens; you do the same.

Using BINs with Immediate Payment Required is the easiest way to STOP NPBs.

    Hi Steve,
I agree, the deadbeats have increased over the past three months. Could be ebay's changes, could be the economy too. I just don't understand people bidding on stuff they can't afford. With the new ebay rules, there's absolutely no recourse for sellers except to add the deadbeats to your blocked bidder list and adjust your listings to block those that have non-paying bidders alerts filed on them.

My blocked list is now at nearly 200 ebay id's, and growing at a steady clip monthly.

Storm : The only problem with using BIN with immediate payment, it shuts potential buyers out that don't use paypal or have a credit card. Maybe people don't use or have either. I would rather get a check for my sales too. I guess it's hard to have it both ways: by check and within a reasonable time frame.

Ebay makes so much off sellers as it is with the FVF and listing fee's, it's hard to take the 3% paypal hit too on every single transaction.

  • If more sellers would stop being scared of filing UPIs the Non-payers will get the message. As long as so many sellers don't have the backbones to file them they will continue to bid and not pay.

Ebay is counting on chicken**it sellers to pad their pockets.

    Yup.

In April, 77% of EBAY transactions were concluded with PayPal.

Not taking paper-payments excludes alot of good folks, no doubt.
It's just not worth the hassle for me to agree to take paper from strangers,
who may OR may not pay.

My scheme is NOT suitable for most sellers. It is just the one I use.

EBAY is "developing" a shopping-cart that will be used by IPR buyers.
It prolly will be out after XMAS. (I lose LOTS of multi-sales, because it
is a hassle for most buyers to shop/pay/shop/pay/shop/pay.)

  • The problem is, and to some extent always has been, the fact that it's too easy to open a new account. This makes it way too easy for bad actors to survive because any time they get in trouble with one ID, they just drop it and get a new ID.

Until Ebay addresses this issue by making it harder to open new accounts, nothing else will matter.

I agree, and I always file NPBA on all deadbeats. I don't even care if it's for $10. A deadbeat is a deadbeat. I then block them too. If they leave me a neg., so be it.

Recently I had an idiot leave me a neutral. I only ship to USA and Canada and it's clearly stated in my listings. This doofus from Australia hits a BIN on a $285 card and then emails me asking how much shipping will be and he wants to pay w/paypal. I ask him if he's confirmed, he's says no. So I tell him I cannot take PP then. I offered to let the guy send me a money order and said I would wait for 30 days for his payment. More than fair, right?

Buyers says he cannot get a money order. I'm like okay, then we're not completing the deal. We were both cordial in the email exchanges and we mutually agreed to not complete the deal. I get my fee's returned. The item involved sold two weeks later out of my store. All is well, right.

Then six weeks after the non-transaction, the guy leaves me my first neutral. His comment is ; "no transaction". I'm like WTF!

I contacted ebay and they can't/won't do a thing to remove it. It's not really a big deal to me but it's about the principal of the thing.

I did nothing wrong and I get drilled. By some knuklehead who apparently doesn't understand english. I now have this low life blocked.

Such is the 'new ebay' .....

  • The other thing Ebay needs to do is give sellers more tools to screen potential buyers. For example, when I sell a high-value item, I would like to be able to block anybody with less than 50 positive feedbacks as a buyer or who has left a seller negative feedback in the past twelve months.

However, Ebay's tools are so rudimentary (only blocking zero feedback bidders or individual ID's) that I cannot block an entire class of bidders.

It would NEVER be in EBAY's interest to block zero-FB buyers.

-1 is the most conservative setting allowed.

Legit new buyers are fine with me.

    Active-users are vanishing fast.

In Chicago, Griff said, "We need all buyers, even if they don't pay."

    ...........

In Sept, sellers will not know who is using ASQ to make inquiries.
Sellers will be unable to block nasty questioners.

    ................

Yesterday, AMZN opened their "payment system" to the public.
They will NOW compete with PayPal for merchant accounts at B&Ms,
and free-standing websites. The payment system will be declared
"not safe" by EBAY, and EBAY sellers will not be allowed to offer it.

In all my auctions I state 7 days payment is due.Well after the 7 days this guy has not paid and I send him another email. Couple weeks go by and decide to forget. I will not file a NPB on this particular item figuring it was only 15 dollar card. Well after nearly two months I get a email today, saying payment received. So you never know. Now I will take my sweet time shipping it.
  • I am not a seller on Ebay but I completley understand what your all saying . the only thing that has happened is that the roles are reversed, in other words the shoe is on the other foot now,the sellers are getting screwed and not the buyer. Buyers have been held hostage for years , not giving a negitive feedback for fear of a negitive feedback retaliation. when the seller took there sweet time to send out a order and send somethings that didnt match the description as far as condition or quality. Last, the only thing a buyer can do in a auction is pay in a timely manner, therefore as soon as a seller recieves payment in full for a auction a feedback should be left , this NEVER was done from a seller! I can tell you that there are alot of sellers that would leave negs only becasue you inquired about a order because they felt you were harrassing them. the system before was as terrible as the new system but hey nothign is perfect .

  • Its not buyers that have zero feedback who are the problem.. If nothing changes today I will be filing UPIs on 4 buyers this evening. Their FB ratings are 1042,1698, 121, and 47.

As far as creating IDs and throwing them away. If you add them to your BBL and they create another ID to bid on your items. They are considered an unwelcome bidder by Ebay. You report them for that Ebay will remove any feedback they leave and can suspend them. Ebay has gotten very good at matching suspended accounts by IP addresses, right now if you are a seller and you log in from a computer you don't normally use they will call you and you have to go through a verification program.

Actually in the new system I have seen MORE sellers leaving feedback after they recieve it not less that is the reason Ebay gives sellers for it. I have and will always used Auctiva for my feedback that automatically leaves feedback after I get it. The transaction is not over just because a buy "pays" with all the false chargebacks, fake money orders etc there is no such thing as just paying anymore. All these problems have increased with Ebays changes.

I agree with Steve 100%. Indeed I find the seller not being able to negative feed back is a horrible decision on ebays part. Second as Steve has mentioned I have had mutiple items bid on and not paid for. And whats my recourse? I can only open a dispute, wait two weeks for the buyer to NOT respond and i get my insertion and final value fee back. There is no way for me to tell the world that a certain buyer is a dead beat loser. What I have been doing is leaving positive feed back but just put in "..." or something small. Might throw out a flag to other sellers.
  • Be careful leaving any feedback for buyers if they don't pay or whatever. Ebay is suspending sellers for leaving false positives this includes the use of codes.

You just have to wait 7 days after you file not 14.
