I am a blocked bidder.. lol

I offered him $150 when this was listed for $600.... a fair price for a raw 62 clemente..
super fair...
he countered me at 600.. and said this was a great card blah blah
so he has come down to $449 and I figured.. maybe he realizes he wildly over shot
and might want to reconsider... I am blocked.. hahaha 1st time ever
the item i bid on..

I once got blocked for simply asking a question about a raw card's condition image

Well, the card looks to be between a 7 and an 8...if that is the case $150 might be a tad low.....but I also had this exact same card rated a PSA 8. Book on it is $500, All Star Cards is paying $380 no questions asked for this card in the 8 grade, and my auctions on Ebay couldnt even get higher than 380. Eventually another card company hit my measly $390 reserve....I personally think the market for this card is soft.....

If the seller wants PSA 8 prices for his cards maybe he should get it graded then?

It could possibly come back a 6 too.

    Or Evid of trimming.

Nothing wrong with making an offer.

edited to add: the top looks awfully short to me.

You can have my answer now, if you like. My final offer is this: nothing. Not even the fee for the gaming license, which I would appreciate if you would put up personally.

it doesn't look trimmed to me.. but I have send cards in that I was 92% sure
were not trimmed and they come back as such.. so i thought $150 was above and beyond
I think I may have actually offered $200 the first go round now that I think of it

I would pay about ZERO for a high-priced, ungraded card on EBAY.
The top-edge of the subject card makes me a little sea-sick; might
    just be the shadow.

I almost always block folks who make unsolicited lowball-offers.
(I state on all ME-Pages and in many listings that I don't want
any offers, that I am doing retail-business, and that I often raise/lower
prices during the course of all listings. Folks who pester me with junk
offers, usually only get to do it once.)

On the rare times I use OBO, I set auto-decline below my acceptable
    price.

In general, EBAY sellers are in a foul mood these days. The ones
with plenty of money could not care less if they sell anything or not,
    UNLESS they get their price.

A lot of the 62 Topps cards are altered because of the brown background, I once had a Mantle 62 Topps that I thought was ateast a 9 came back altered. So I would conider that for the 62's also.

The problem with '62s is that they look too much like '87s IMHO. Still, a card I don't own that I need for my player collection though.

Storm, I couldn't have said it better. Agreed.

One exception would be the approach used in the low ball offer. If the person offering 1/4 of my BIN price does it in a reasonable, friendly way, I would cordially decline it or counter offer. If they offer it in a way that I feel is very rude or insulting, I would block them too. It's all in the approach to me.

I had a modern short print auto card #7/17, book was $150 at the time, I put it up for $49.95 and had someone offer $20 for it. I didnt block him and countered with $45 (shipping inc.) and he said something to the effect of "You havent sold it for $50, why would I pay $45?"

I told him I would burn the card before I sold it for $20
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY
  • i just offered, 12.99, 13.99, 23.99 and 33.99./

    sadly i was denied. sigh.

    my FIRST impression; Trimmed.

I don't have the best trained eye, but it sure is suspicious that the top edge isn't parallel with the white line bordering the photo... especially since the other three edges are.

I asked him why it wasn't graded and he told me I need to read the description.

    whatever that means.

    Good for you.
  • I can already see one major surface scratch, so who knows how many more there are. Card is nicely centered, and the corners seem nice though. I always disclose the amount/severity of the surface scratching (if any) and the amount of gloss on the card. Those two things seem to be something that most people never list in their auction descriptions, and they're pretty important IMO.

    Congrats!

You just proved the seller right in blocking morons who waste the seller's time with bids that amount to
judgemental tantrum's. Yes, here come the keyboard Gomer's yelling "Citizens arrest!" at prices they deem unreasonable.

Trimmed or min size requirement. Either way probably doesn't come back in a holder.
