What is an "endorsed" baseball bat?

I am interested in this auction, I just don't know what this means. Does it have any collectible value? Anyone with some advice on this would be greatly appreciated! I am looking for a certified game used Colavito bat, so far this is the nicest/only bat resembling Colavito bat I've ever found.

Thank you!
Jeff

    Jeff:

All that means is that Colavito gave permission to H&B (in exchange for money obviously) to use his name to sell store model (i.e. Little League) bats. The "signature" that is burned in the barell is the same "signature" that would appear on his professional bats as well. Would make a nice display piece and better yet would be cool for Rocky to sign if you ever caught him at a show.

The "5" on the knob is known as an "inch mark" and all that shows is what the length of the bat is (35"). This would be the kind of bat that one could buy at a Sporting Goods store or Hardware store back in the day (retail bat, not for professional use)
