I recieved a card in the mail today that I won off of ebay( Topps Kobe Bryant rookie) . The card was put inside an lettersized envelope without any kind of case, not even a penny sleave and mailed to me. The card was not expensive ($1) but when i got it all the corners were soft and one of the edges was dinged. Are you kidding me.

What kind of holder were you expecting a dollar card to be in?

I'd also like to see a scan .... I've never seen a modern day card with soft corners.

How much was shipping/handling?

Here is the auction for this card. And I guess it is partialy my fault for not taking a look at his feed back. Look at his discription. He states the condition of the card is perfect. I don't have time right now but I will put it up a scan some time Tuesday. Please let me know if i'm wrong here. I feel their is a minimum amount of responsibility the seller must take to insure the card will arive in a timely manner, wich was about 1 month, and that it would be delivered in the described statet.

Myself... I'd probably just leave a positive feedback and move on. Even though it seems like a lame way to send a card, I seriously don't think you could really expect a Gem Mint card with a scan like the one in the auction. And ya, the feedback is at zero, so no real surprise??? right.

The card would have been fine if he would have used a $.010 toploader and a piece of scotch tape. The guy did charge me $2 for shipping. All I am saying is that the smallest amount of common sence would have made a huge difference.

Looks like the guy is not a card collector. He probably does not have card collecting supplies and may not even know what a topload is. Sounds like he made an effort to ship it safe. I once purchased a 1972 Nolan Ryan and a few other Ryan cards in VG-EX grade on ebay because they were poorly listed and sold cheap. I guess the seller was not a card collector, but he took a cassette tape case and broke the prongs off and shipped the cards in it. It was not the best packing and shippng, but he did try.

You have every right to be ticked. If you don't know that shipping a card in a regular envelope with no protection is going to damage it, you're a moron. It's certainly not too much to ask to secure it somehow.

I recieved the card yesterday. And I payed 2 days after the close of the auction. I havn't had time to leave bad readback yet

Doesn't matter if it was $1 or $100, the seller still has an obligation to get the card to the buyer in the condition stated on the auction. Give the MORON seller the NEGATIVE they deserve.

There is likely some merit to that idea.

BUT, if folks are going to sell stuff on EBAY - cheap OR expensive - they need
to get it to the buyer undamaged.

I have some suspicion that the instant seller might have packed/shipped a
more expensive card in a similar manner.

$2.00 S/H leaves enough room to use some glassine and cardstock to protect
a card, without requiring more postage.

Likely just a novice seller who really has no business doing business. I doubt
they thought they were doing anything "wrong." They did, however, likely make
more than 100% on their transaction; most good sellers never make that number
on EBAY sales.

Partly yes, as I wasn't sure what he meant by "case".

I thought maybe he expected the $1 card to be in a screwdown or perhaps a nice 1" lucite.

I certainly agree that the card should have been protected better.

I don't have a definitive answer on anything...

but, IMO - if ya sell on ebay - ya have an obligation to insure the item one sells arrives to the buyer in the precise condition prior to its shipment.

How ya do that? Is up to the seller. That's an expectation that we all have whether it be for a buck or a grand.

Maybe there is a lesson to be learned that when dealing with a seller with a couple or no feedback to mention to them when paying for the cards to secure the cards as they could be damage. Seems like common sense but I think some people don't think mail can be damage in transit.

It's pretty bad when one has to ask sellers how the card is going to be shipped, how it's going to be shipped and what condition it's in. I recently won an auction for a Vladamir Guerrero jersey card and the auction had a tiny picture, shipping cost was not listed and neither was the condition. I asked before bidding and won a pretty nice card. Ebay has gone to the crapper, I know, news flash. I don't know how long you guys had been dealing with Ebay but I've been buying and selling on there for 8 years and back then sellers use to provide decent pictures or detailed descriptions and they would show respect for your card(s) by packaging correctly. Of course a long time ago there was only one card maker, the cards for each sport only came out when that sport was being played and everyone collected for fun.

Everyone has a different threshold of principle and pain when it comes to the value of a card that they choose to discuss.

I'm not directing this at any one individual - as such - but I think the boards could use a bit more civility and mutual respect.

This is just my opinion - but the boards are developing a shark feeding frenzy type feel - at times - we've had a few members come here over the past year or so - who are out and out wise asses - and people seem to be taking a cue from them.

We ALL deserve better - don't you think?
