O/T Sorta {Star Wars stage props }

I know someone who is thinking about selling some Star Wars stage props, Like the Light Saber and two other guns , they are in huge plastic displays " Except for the light saber " that one is in a small display and each are numbered , though I don't know to what #'s

The guy told me that one of the weapons,
"a small freaky lookin gun" was actually a Thompson sub machine gun the stage props guys modified for the movie .

Qusetion is , he want's like 700 for the huge gun , it's about 4 feet long then 350 for the smaller gun and 300 for the lightsaber , all of these things are really heavy and I was really surprised about how heavy the light saber was , do these prices seem about right ?

They are not the toys you see sometimes for sale in like KB, they don't light up and don't shoot anything , just props

They definitely look really cool and look like they could actually fire , though naturally I know they don't .

I don't know squat about Star Wars collectibles so if anyone here knows anything about what these might be worth , please let me know .

I might be able to haggle a little , though I really hate to .
Sorry I have no pics of this stuff , I didn't have a camera with me when I went to see them

Thanks , I have been doing just that to find comparisons , the closest comparisons I could find was a company called Master Replicas , but they don't have the exact weapons I saw , although very close .

I'm almost certain he said they were actually used in the original Star Wars movie .

The guy is not too far away from me , but he's not exactly close either , I just don't know what to look for to tell if they are authentic movie props or replicas or even if the replicas were used as authentic props , I'm hoping some of the fans of Star Wars can shine some light on the subject , because if theuy are real stage props used in the movie , I will definitely take them .

I have seen scaled down replicas , life size replicas and all kinds of stuff and I don't want to pay good money for something that isn't what I belive it is or should be .

I would pm or wait around for bobafett72 ? I think. He and a couple of guys here should definitely be able to help moreso than me. If they were actually used in the movies and he has documents or undisputable proof, those prices sound cheap to me.

Yea, I believe you're right , I am on a site now that has screen used movie props for sale , one of the light sabers used in Star Wars sold for over 40K with LOA from Saber Technicians so I guess these are just replicas .

Jeeeze, I had no idea this stuff was in that much demand, I mean I know the movie has a insane following but over 40 K for a lightsaber , I'm sure these are replicas now . . .LMAO

They still are really cool looking and are probably highly collectible too .

    hey kids.
Im guessing he is selling replicas not authentic movie props.

Ummm, yea I'm guessing so .

Now the question would be, are these replicas worth picking up being authentic movie props go for as much as they do .

Not that I would sell them, but if my son wanted to sell them in the future would the demand be as high or is the value as it is right now legit , I mean I have seen some replicas that still go for a decent buck around what this gentleman is asking , the only thing I don't know is if it is all of them or just certain makers of these replicas ?

I would guess that there would be some high end replicas that hold their value versus ones that do not ?

Anyone know what to look for ?

  • first you need to ID the lightsaber (which character does it belong too) if its serial numbered, whats the production run. there are some higher priced replicas that are collectibles $200-$1000. A quick ebay search on complete items will show you a broad choice.

I have 3 Ewoks living in my basement. What are they worth?
  • TNTonPMSTNTonPMS Posts: 2,279 ✭✭
I used to have an Ewok too , but I destroyed the darn thing on the stove trying to make some really elaborate chinese dish .

That ranks right up there with the time I almost set the whole house on fire trying to fry a turkey that one Thanksgiving .

Anyway , I'm going to go back to the guy and take down all that info so I can see exactly what they are , so someone might be able to tell me what's what .

Rebel Scum is another website you probably want to check out as it specializes in hard to find Star Wars collectibles and news. The Registry or Wedge Engine section may help you ID some of these pieces you are thinking about buying.
