Pin Hole in Non-Graded Card

I am in desparate need of an answer. I recently purchased a card and paid at the high end for the card. When I received it, I noticed a pin hole in the card - this was not included in the description nor can be seen in the picture... What impact will a pin hole have on the card when it is graded ?

<< <i>well, its not good. >>
I would not expect anything any better.

It will allow light to shine straight through from the front of the holder to the back of the holder.

sort of negative impact to the grade will the hole now have ? Please keep it professional."

Professionally speaking, I have not seen a card with a hole in it graded higher than a PSA 1.
There may be some graded higher, I just have not encountered any.
That said: I suspet SOME repaired cards are in TPG holders.
A pinhole can be closed. Some can be closed so that the hole is not "easily" found.
The best route is to return the card to the seller, IF that is an option. If you paid by
credit-card, you could do a chargeback.

Before you asked what impact the pinhole has on the card, but now you have asked the right question.
Your card is a PSA 1.
If this was an eBay transaction I would seek a refund from the seller based on the card being SNAD (significantly not as described), that's of course if the pinhole was never mentioned.

I don't think it was ever determined if this was a pinhole in this Aaron, but looks just like one, didn't seem to have much of an impact on the grade of this one.
<< <i> Let me restate... I understand there is a negative impact. But is the card essentially worthless ? It is a 1911 Imperial Tobacco Ed Newsy Lalonde... i would have estimated that it would have graded about a 5.. and then i saw the pin hole.. very small - but it is there. A few of you have had some fun at my expense with your replies. My question however, is.. if the card would have graded a 5 without the hole... what sort of negative impact to the grade will the hole now have ? Please keep it professional. >>
I would talk to the seller if you are not happy. The pinhole should have been noted if the person is an honest seller. You should post a scan from the seller or a better scan from you so the people here can give some better opinions.
Good luck to you!

That cannot be a pinhole.
IF it is, the card was graded in error.
That scuff could be on the holder; if it is on the card, the card should not be in its current holder.
"IF it is, the card was graded in error."

It don't look like any pin hole I have ever seen , it definitely looks more like a scuff and I think it is actually on the card ,

I suppose one might need to see the hole to really answer the question as to how extensive the difference would be ?
<< <i>Here is the Aaron defect that another board member posted in a thread a while back.

The "hole" does look AWFULLY round.
IF it's a hole, the card is misgraded by a bunch.
The fact that the card got a .5 bump indicates, to me, that there is no hole.

<< <i>How do you know the Aaron got a bump?

"Bump" was the wrong word, unless I was speculating that it was resubmitted.
I have no way to know that; ONLY that it got a .5.
IF there is a "hole" in that card, it CANNOT, by definition, be a 7.5.

Half-Point Grades:
Cards that exhibit high-end qualities within each particular grade, between PSA Good 2 and PSA Mint 9, may achieve a half-point increase. While PSA graders will evaluate all of the attributes possessed by a card in order to determine if the card may be eligible, there will be a clear focus on centering.
Generally speaking, a card must exhibit centering that is 5-10% better, at minimum, than the lowest % allowed within a particular grade. It is important to note that there may be cases where the overall strength of the card, such as the quality of the corners and print, will give the card the edge it needs despite the fact that it may exhibit only marginal centering for the grade. This is especially true for cards that find themselves within the bottom half of the PSA 1-10 scale.
Finally, keep in mind that qualifiers will not apply to grades that achieve the half-point increase since, by definition; these cards have to exhibit high-end qualities within the grade in order to warrant consideration. For example, there will not be cards graded PSA NM-MT-Plus 8.5 OC or PSA EX-MT-Plus 6.5 PD since the half-point is reserved for high-end cards within each grade.
