I willbe there probably all of Saturday. Looking to complete some sets as well. I have a raw 72 set I have been working on and a boat load of newer sets my son wanted to complete so I will be looking to cross those off our list as well. Also going to pick up a box of 1987 donruss if BBCE still has one at their table. This is my sons favorite et and we will have fun opening packs to build this set.

Hope to see others there. Is there a specific meeting place everyone gravitates to?
I am on a budget and I am not afraid to use it!!

I will be there a couple hours everyday. Submissions, memorabilia, supplies and a few cards I have been looking for is on my list.
  • Well,

If they ever hold it west of the Rockies again, I'd love to go.....

Something's got to be done to make sure it gets rotated among different regions of the country.

Isnt it going back to Cleavland next year? I went but I dont think I will go back. No offense to any Ohio people...
  • I think it's been in either Cleveland or Chicago nine out of the past ten years, with the only exception being the one time they held it in Anaheim.

It's a great disservice to collectors in the western part of the country to only hold the National in Chicago and Cleveland, both of which are at least a four hour flight from anywhere on the west coast.

Crazy request here but I will ask anyways!

If any of you that are going happen to come across a centered PSA 7 1952 Bowman Large Norm Van Brocklin, would it be possible for someone to call my cell phone and give me the dealers # so I can buy the card with my credit card? If someone is willing to do this for me and I actually land this card I will Pay-Pal you $50 for your trouble. PM me if you would be willing to take an extra look for me and I will give you my cell #.

Thanks for any consideration, weird request I know but I cannot find this card!

    Thanks,
    Paul

I went two years ago when the show was in Anaheim, CA. No plans to travel for the show. Some fun stuff to see, but too costly to buy much for me.
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!

I will be there on Saturday, looking for a 76 BB, but mainly just to go look at stuff I know I can not afford.
  • I'm thinking about going Friday, all day, maybe in the afternoon on Saturday.

I am going Thursday night and staying until Saturday. I will only be at the show Friday and Saturday. Staying at the Doubletree so anyone who wants to go to Gibsons for dinner let me know.

Barring a last minute change of heart, I am not going. It's cool to go to once, but I have found it to be overrated. Since it attracts all the major national dealers, prices are out of sight and forget about finding nice raw stuff since the good stuff changes hands before the doors open to the general public. It's good for socializing, but who wants to pay $15 per day plus gas and parking for that? Count me out.

And let's stop the griping about the midwest. The show was in Anaheim 2 years ago. If you didn't attend then, it's your own friggin' fault.

Seems like a small price to pay to see friends. I'll be there Tuesday thru Friday (at least), and after missing last year am really looking forward to it.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

I don't go looking for bargins, I think of it more of a celebration of the hobby. If you pay $15 a day to attend you should just put out the $120 for a VIP pass.

I am looking forward to the convention. I have been at the last two in Clevland and Anaheim and If I pick up some cards for my collections thats fine but I probably enjoy the social aspect of the conventions much more like meeting in person the Collectors/Dealers on these boards, and the night life in the city/ PSA luncheon and knocking down a couple of cold ones with friends. My wife says when our friends ask her why Im going to Chicago "He is a freakin 55 year old card Nerd and will never grow up".
She is probably right but hey I am proud of it. Leaving tomorrow and staying to Saturday. Hope to meet some of you there.

Ugg, Wednesday night sneak peek night was not so impressive. Cram all the vip ticket holders into a small room and try to get autos and go through a buffet line at the same time. Not the brighest set up. Then at the end of the VIP reception the man on the mic actually request people "clear their own tables" because there was not enough staff! They really shaffed the VIP's on free sets. They gave a partial set for the ysl A&G and you had the option of buying the rest from etopps, what a croc!!! Hoping day 2 is better

Today is buying day for me so at least I will come home with some stuff I enjoy!

I am heading up tonight, I have a retirement dinner to go too. I live about 3 hrs away from Rosemont.

Staying at the Doubletree anyone else?

Bringing my partial 69 (65% complete), 76 (97% complete), 77 (55% complete) and 78 (97% complete) topps BB sets to sell or try and sell. Trying to free up some money to fill in some holes in my team and player sets. My sets are all NM or better, lots of vending in the 76s thru 78s.

I also have about 70 NM-MT 71 Topps FB stars and commons to sell.

Anyone interested in this stuff let me know before I move or attempt to move it at the show.

There really wasnt much to take pic of. I was really disapointed with the National this year. Topps didnt even have a booth but etopps did. I was most diaspointed with the coporate booths, nothing too exciting going on and very unhelpful workers. I asked a guy at psa what the August special was going to be on Wednesday and he couldnt even fine out for me. Told the Beckette dudes they were walking in Tuff Stuffs footprints. Rodman was a jerk, shocker.

I will say one good thing and that was talking with very friendly fellow collecters and dealers.

The best looking corporate booth was for these cards Best looking booth at the national NSFW

I didn't buy a single card but had a great time. The show didn't seem too crowded but lots of transactions on Wednesday before the main opening. For me it's become a lot more of a social event than actual buying, but all that social activity always leads to buying thruout the next year.
It's great walking into the hotel bar and knowing 45 people in it.

Off to Wrigley, lets play 2!

Indeed I had a really good talk with Steve Hart our buddy from BBCE. He had some really nice stuff as always. There were a few 78 and 79 cello packs I am sad I didnt grab. Plus a box fo 85 fleer basketball for $11,000 if he would have knocked it down to a cool $10,000 I was a deal image

I really dont know many of you by face but I was at Gibsons Thursday afternoon / evening and met several nice collectors / dealers.
