Yes, he made one all-star team 1994. signed a big contract with Tampa Bay and sucked terribly after lol
Your question (or rather the cards' question) was:
<< <i>Who is the first person born in the 1970's to play in the Major leagues... >>
and you state that the answer is Wilson Alvarez who was born on March 24, 1970 and played his first game on July 24, 1989.
Your question is some vague and confusing because the answer can be found by referencing the first date only. For example, Gary Wilson is the only person in major league history who was born on January 1, 1970. Wilson played his first game on April 28, 1995 after Alvarez' debut on July 24, 1989. But Wilson was the first person born in the 1970s who went on to play MLB.
Like I said, the question is somewhat confusing. But then again, nobody knows Gary Wilson and I suppose Wilson Alvarez makes for more of an interesting trivia question.

That's quite an interpretation there, Jack...

Actually, Jack got the right answer. If the question was "who was the first player to play in the Major Leagues who was born in the 1970's, then bill's beard would be the winner". Not ragging on the OP or bill's beard, just kinda sticking up for Jack, in hopes that someday he will tell me what the heck the italicized /s/ in his signature means.

I suspect Lee will now ban you from any of his future trivia contests, as well...

It is a huge, huge stretch to assume that the question meant "Of all the MLB players born between Jan. 1, 1970, and Dec. 31, 1979, which one had the earliest birthdate?" Come on.
Good question. I'd have guessed Poops McGee myself.
